The Cedar River Trail is gravel from Maple Valley to Landsburg, the beginning of the restricted watershed for the city of Tacoma. (The trail is paved in the other direction to Renton.)
The Trail follows the Old Milwaukee Road rail line. It was an electrictic railroad, and the frames for the power cables are still intact on many of the Cedar River bridges..
Salmon return up the Cedar each year to spawn.
Jim, usually on a Catrike, tries out his folding Dahon on the trail.
A winding path leads to the trail terminus in a park at the start of the watershed.
The Cedar River moves much more rapidly up here.
The return ride is easy, with a continuous gentle downgrade.
Jim's Dahon folds easily for transport home.
