Five Mile Drive--Point Defiance Park
Multi-Use Trails
The Five Mile Drive at Point Defiance Park is technically not a bike trail, but it is like until 10:00 A.M. on weekdays and until 1:00 P.M. on weekends, when it is closed to motor vehicles.
Most of the ride is in forest, some of it old growth.
The point of Point Defiance is a bluff that protrudes out into Puget Sound.
You pass by Fort Nisqually, a trading post of the Husdon's Bay Company dating back to 1841.  The fort was rebuilt here in the park in the 1930s, but the granery and another building were moved from their original site 20 miles south in 1974.  (That site is the location of the Sequalichew Trail.)
