Flaming Geyser State Park
Flaming Geyser Natural Area
Green River Offroad
Flaming Geyser in the Green River Gorge was a 20-foot flame mixed with saltwater earky last century when ago when a vent from a methane deposit 1000 feet below the surface ignited.  But don't expect to see the fireworks today, as most of the gas has burned off, leaving a remnant a few inches high.
Today, its name namesake state park has other draws to make it one of the most popular recreational destinations in the area.  At the end of the Green River Gorge, is is a favorite of rafters and inner-tubers and a take-out for kayakers after the wilder rapids upstream.  Fishermen wade the clear waters for steelhead and trout, while families congregate in the extensive picnic areas.  The park even offers a dedicated field for radio controlled aircraft enthusiasts. And hikers enjoy nearly five miles of trails.
Most of these trails are off limits to cyclists, but there are still opportunities for a unique ride, especially in winter when the crowds are gone.
The cable bridge spanning the Green River is a good place to begin.
The shallows here give you a chance to get up close and personal in a calmer stretch of one of the most dangerous rivers in the state.
Most trails in the park are for hiking only, but this route along the river are open to cycling as well.  More riding is available in the undeveloped section across the river, described on a separate page.
This trail connects the picnic area to the airfield for radio controlled craft.
