Pinnacle Peak
Enumclaw Area Rides
Locals also call it Mt Peak or Mt Pete. On the north side, a pedestrian only trail,  takes you from the Plateau up 1000 feet in only one mile.  A steep road climbs the south side is closed to motorized vehicles, but open to mountain bikers and recumbent trikers who have high enough stamina, traction, and gears.
Pinnacle Peak is one of several small volcanoes in the Enumclaw area. Since we live in a high rainfall area, the rock mountain is covered with trees and other vegetation. A few thousand years ago, Mt Rainier experienced a cataclysmic eruption, triggering the Oceola mudflow. The resulting lake of mud left the peaks of these volcanoes as islands, rising abruptly from the flat surface.  Pinnacle Peak has now been set aside as a King County Natural Area.
The first half of the ride is a steep, steady climb on a no-vehicle gravel road.
A landing at the top of the road offers views of the surrounding area.
From there, a trail leads up the remaining half-mile to the summit.
The trail gets rocky near the top,
With both foot and hand cranks, I was able to use both arms and legs to power the Quadraped up Pinnacle Peak's 20% grade.
and the final ascent is the worst.
