Heading west on the Olympic Discovery Trail from Sequim, you reach a stretch on the Straits of San Juan de Fuca.
The long pier promises a ride out over the water.
From there, the trail goes out the narrow Ediz Hook, with the bay on one side

and the straits on the other.
