The ride down Stevens Canyon begins at Paradise. Fall is the best time for a descent, when traffic is at its lowest.
Stevens Canyon is rarely open in November, but a unseasonable 60 degree day followed a snowstorm and allowed for one last ride. This picture was taken a week after the previous one.
Paradise Valley Road had already closed to vehicles, but was clear enough for cycling.
The long, steeper drop begins near Reflection Lakes,
Everything is slow to melt even in the warm sun at Reflection Lakes.
Everything was clear the week before.
I am experimenting with a tripod attached to the trike frame. The old flip camera was heavy and vibrated too much on the high speed descent. (This arrangement has worked on slower descents.) The video below was shot with the same camera but hand-held. I look forward to try this ride with the GoPro and Sony.

It looks like someone drove over the edge, but it was just the road crew dumping fallen rocks.
This ride ends with a tunnel bored into solid bedrock,
and theBox Canyon, 180 feet deep and only a few feet wide.
The parking lot makes a good place to leave a shuttle for the return to Paradise.
