While there, Philippe created a new kite for the rather windy conditions we had.
Mary Yoshimi donated a roll of mylar florists wrapping material for us to use.
Philippe cut a half plan out of a piece of cardboard with scissors, sized to work with the bamboo bows and spines he brought with him.
A bit of contact cement on the spine, bow ends and wingtips held things together.
The sail stiffeners on the lower corners were were waste pieces split from the part of the cut off spine covered with scotch tape.
A couple more bits of tape held the leading edge shoulders, tip and tail.
We used a two point bridle. That was what Philippe was used to, and our local group hadn't fully sussed out three point bridles at the time.
Think I'd try three point and a fiberglass bow these days.
We sat in a group in the dunes and built a dozen or so to give away during the festival. They were all a bit gritty ;)
There weren't any formal measurements other than "That looks about right. Let's give it a try."
These should probably be built to the same exacting standards.
