WEDNESDAY

the devices await    sun, 75 degrees, 3-8k west.

a beautiful morning for the Senior Skills Competition.

Chuck set up the hoop, screen, cups on poles, and other mechanisms of sado-masochistic delight.   then he convinced about 10 very senior citizen fighter flyers to publicly humiliate themselves for a couple hours as they attempted to get their silly little kites to go through a hoop at 100 feet, adhere to a screen at 80 feet, and knock 6 cups off poles at 100 feet.

What a wonderful display of failing depth perception and arthritic muscle spasms!   Chuck had obviously been practicing, had made up the rules, and was able to actually remember where he was that day so he won the Senior Skills very handily.

Dogs inna Dark    flying all afternoon with friends was a real treat.   fresh strategies and tactics previously unseen by most northwest NFKA flyers were a real learning experience for us ( geez, those california guys sure fly funny, huh? ).    the day was way too full of giggles and grins.

The Third Annual Wildfire Weenie Roast and Hornitos Sing-a-Long was a wonderful ending to a great flying day.   The ocean mist rolled softly onshore and turned to a light drizzle as the warm beach fire blazed and friendships blossomed.   Ron and Patsy hauled out many bottles of Two Tiger Manjha Beer for its first public taste test.   Hey, this stuff is really good!   It has now been declared the official NFKA soft drink.

The night staggered ever onward and the fire roared ever higher.   We talked.   We laughed.   We spun many tales and became the best of friends as we dined sumptuously on many, many, many fine weenies, vegi-dogs, burned marshmallows, and bubbling hornitos.   What a night!

The choir performed several fine renditions of old time favorite hillbilly classics and a few cowboy-rock crossovers that would have been forever lost to our culture had they not dug them up and revitalized them.

Shut off that light!    The appreciative audience howled at the moon as we sang, reminding us all that howling at the moon is something we should all do more often.   Thank you.   Thank you very much.

Chuck became a true NFKA legend this night.   When the cops arrived, well after curfew, Chuck masterfully steered the officer away from the crowd of riotous merrymakers and negotiated NFKAs first ever stay-out-of-jail agreement, perfectly maintaining his composure while under the influence of more than enough hornitos.

Chuck successfully negotiated this important treaty while the entire NFKA choir sang "Happy Birthday, Dear Chuck-o" at the top of their voices like an excruciating sound-track he couldn't make go away, which made his efforts in our behalf even more noteworthy.

So, thanks Chuckoheroguy for your hard work negotiating, organizing and supplying the Wildfire necessities and for helping Brian and Andy dig d out of the wet sand and then for pointing him toward home afterward.   Chuck, youre my favorite partyguy of all time.
