It was just a little bit embarrassing to be a member of the profession that took so much blame for the "Y2K bug". In fact, there are a number of mistakes we programmers habitually make which end up being more than a little bit embarrassing. One of my New Year's resolutions for 2000, therefore, is to write up this series of challenges for improvement, to myself and anyone else who might find them worthwhile.
