MISSION PILOT TYPING

 

Pilots who have applied to the Aviation ES Worker program, passed the background /records check and have been accepted will need to complete following training to obtain the Typing levels listed here.

 

A TYPE 111 MISSION PILOT

1.   200 hours PIC minimum in Category and Class. Minimum 50 Hours cross-country time. Private Pilots certificate minimum with current medical certificate.

2.   Complete Basic First Aid/CPR and Current.

3.   Complete WSDOT Orientation Course.

4.   Complete FEMA IS-700 Course.

5.   Complete WSOOT or CAP Basic Mission Aircrew School.

6.   Complete 5 sorties Initial Operating Experience (IOE) with Type or Type II MP.

7.   Complete 4 sorties of Electronic Searching -ELT DF with DF qualified MP (1-day Comm. radio aka Aural, 1- day L-Tronics) (1-night Comm. radio aka Aural, 1-night L-Tronics / ALL 4 AURAL IF NO DF RECEIVER.)

8.   Complete WSDOT or CAP Form 91 flight check for TYPE III MP. Expires in 24 months.

9.   Restricted to flat terrain below 5,000' MSL for SAR / transportation flights/ photo-recon flights unless higher terrain specifically approved by the WSDOT Incident Commander.

 

B. TYPE II MISSION PILOT

1.   350 hours PIC minimum in Category and Class. Private Pilots certificate minimum with current medical certificate. 100 Hours cross-country time. Instrument rating desirable.

2.   Current Basic First Aid/CPR.

3.   Complete 20 additional sorties as PIC with qualified observer of which 10 are on actual missions. 5 sorties as High Bird and 5 sorties of ELT DF'ing.

4.   Complete Mission Aircrew Mountain Operations Course ground training.

5.   Complete Mission Aircrew Mountain Operations Course flight training with Type I MP or designated mountain mentor pilot.

6.   Complete Aircrew Survival Training. (This will transfer to MP III after all existing aircrew members get through course.)

7.   Complete 10 sorties (IOE) in high altitude/mountainous grids with Type I MP. 8. Complete WSDOT or CAP Form 91 for TYPE II MP. Expires in 24 months.

9.   Restricted to flat land/rolling hills/mountains below 10,000' AGL for SAR/DR unless higher terrain specifically approved by the WSDOT Incident Commander.

 

C. TYPE I MISSION PILOT

1.   500 hours PIC minimum in Category and Class. Private Pilots certificate minimum with current medical certificate. 200 hours cross-country time. Commercial w/ Instrument rating desirable.

2.   Current Basic First Aid/CPR.

3.   Complete 100 sorties in all conditions and terrain types of which 10 sorties must be in mountainous terrain, 10 are EL T DF missions.

4.   Demonstrate advanced knowledge in mountain operations.

5.   Demonstrate advanced knowledge in Electronic search techniques.

6.   Demonstrate ability to instruct and mentor TYPE II/III pilots as necessary.

7.   Complete Form 91 Checkride with WSDOT Stand/Eval Pilot for Type I. Expires in 24 months

8.   No Restriction in assignments.
