A new bench in a new bed is designed for viewing the crocosmia and bamboo forest. The sweet gum provides shade from the late afternoon sun. |

A long, narrow pond, flanked by lilies, irises, and azaleas, provides a transition between the rhododendrons and bamboo. Trees such as katsura, mimosa, and Japanese maple, and willow enhance the connection. Ground water usually fills the pond from October through May or June. In the summer and fall, gravel changes the pond into a dry stream bed. This pond is an extenstion of the Azalea/Orchard in Specialized Gardens. |
