The Spruce Railroad Trail follows the trackbed of a railroad constructed to haul out spruce for building airplanes in World War I. The war ended before the tracks were ever used. Now the 3.5 mile bike trail follows uses the old grade along the roadless west side of Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park.

In one spot, the trail departs from the old rail bed to reach a deep cove, which it crosses on a long truss bridge. |
