The Cascade Locks segment of the Historic Columbia Gorge Highway State Trail begins at John B. Yeon State Park and ends at the Bridge of the Gods, with additional trailheads at Toothrock and Eagle Creek.

On the north side of the freeway, you get closer to the river.

The new structure was named after the original Bridge of the Gods, a natural dam created by the Bonneville Slide that blocked the Columbia River here around 1450 A.D. The natural bridge was eventually eroded by the river, but the events were retold for generations by the local Native American tribes.
