The Vista Ridge Trail begins on top of the plateau in Sunset Park (lower right on map) and follows Lake Tapps Parkway down to the valley. If you continue to the bottom, you come to the tunnel that leads to the Sumner Link Trail. Veering right, you ascend back up through a forest. At the end, you can continue on a few streets to the White River Trail.
Reminds you of Pete Seeger's song, Little Boxes.
Fortunately, you don't have to cross this intersection of six lane roads. You immediately turn right onto the trail and head down the hill.
Your first thought is that you have to come back up this long hill,
but the joy of the downhill descent replaces that thought.
What goes down must come up.
