The ventilators that I have now are the LP 6 by Aequitron
Medical, Inc. They are both good and I would like, if possible,
to replace them with the same line of products. Since it has
been such a long time since I had to purchase new ventilators, I
am pretty far out of the informational loop on what is out there
now. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly
appreciated.
The questions I would like answers for are:
* Is Aequitron still in business?
* If so, what line of vents do they offer?
* What other vents are available?
* Please name some companies.
* Addresses, phone and/or FAX numbers.
* What features do some of the newer vents have?
* What vents are the simplest and easiest to maintain?
* How easy, or difficult, are some of the newer vents
to get serviced?
(mine are a real pain in the a** to get serviced!)
* What are the prices?
* What type of guarantees do some of the vent
manufacturers give?
* What type of service contracts do some of the vent
manufacturers offer?
* What dealers are available in California,
particularly the San Francisco Bay Area?
If anyone has any answers to any, or all, of these questions
please help me. The county that I live in, Alameda, has been
mandated to "transition" its MediCal recipients over to "managed
care". This is going to happen sometime next year, so I think it
is wise to start the tedious process of getting this major
purchase authorized while the fee-for-service system is still in
place. Since vents are an expensive piece of equipment, I am
afraid that an HMO will balk at paying for it. Their history has
shown this often to be the case.
My thanks to anyone who can be of help.
Sincerely,
Blane N. Beckwith
