Everyone,
For what it's worth, I know only one person with a phrenic pacer. I know the
phrenic nerve is stimulated with an implanted electrode.
I change my trach once a month. It is cuffless and flexible so changes are a
breeze. Not like the old days when I had a cuffed trach, that hurts.
I do trach care with full strength hydrogen peroxide and saline. I've never had
trouble with infections around the stoma. I guess I could be lucky though. I've never
had trouble with irritation from the full strength hydrogen peroxide but I could be
lucky.
Now I may be able to help you keep the swivel adapter on. I use rubber straps that
are specifically designed for that purpose. I'll find the company name and part number
for you asap. I'm sending one to paula Howaniec to put in her new horizons newspaper.

I don't know what that first number is for. I soak them in disinfectant for ten-twenty
minutes and then rinse them with sterile water before putting them on the tube. Just
slip the end of the tube that goes in you through the big hole in the middle, pull it up
the tube to back of the face plate, feed the straps through holes in the face plate or
if the face plate is small enough around the outside of it, and cut the strap to the
desired length. The straps are quite long so they'll work with any swivel adapter and
trach tube. (Unless your trach tube is very large in diameter).
