I can get 5 swallows between breaths, then I pause to exhale. If I don't
exhale soon enough then the vent high pressures. I have the high pressure
set to just about 2 breaths, meaning I can hold one full breath and almost
a full second one before it high pressures.

When I first started using it I was still in rehab. They had me drink water
with blue dye then suctioned me to see if I aspirated any water.

My setting are always the same, in chair or bed, with or without the valve.
