>Jim,
I apologize for not keeping you better informed of my progress with
my client in Lincoln, NE. Things are progressing. Three of the residents
have tried the Adapt2you, and they are also trying out some other devices.
There have been some other programs that seem to be working well, and I hope
that some decisions and funding occur within the next month.
It is unlikely that Beth will use a voice activated program, because
she is so fast on the sip and puff. One other client, a relatively new
quadriplegic, will probably go for a voice activated program, and I think
the third person will also stay with the sip & puff.
The residents are starting to receive the New Horizon's newsletter,
and there is just alot of new, lively activity going on in this unit. The
family support group, which includes the residents has been a wonderful
undertaking, and it is exciting to see the energy that flows from this
group. Previously, the residents stayed fairly secluded or isolated from
one another. I have a number of theories on why, but they are now
interacting, planning a party for the staff for nurses week, and are
beginning to recognize the power they have in the facility.
I hope you have more members for your mailing list. Keep your
fingers crossed, that at least 3 more will be from Lincoln.
Take Care,
Lindy Lue
