I am completely dependent on my vent full-time. I can breathe
on my own for 2-3 hours while my attendant bathes and dresses me. I
have had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) since birth, 1955. I became
ventilator dependent in 1982. I have two LP-6 vents, one mounted on my
wheelchair, the other at my bedside. I use a size 8 Shiley cuffless
fenestrated trach.
