VENT AND EAR INFECTIONS

I use a LP-10 volume vent whenever sleeping and have had recurrent problems
with an ear infection. The problem I believe is that, due to pressure in the
airways, air (and bacteria) get into the middle ear via the eaustachian
tube. I can often feel the pressure develop in my ear, unless there is a
tube in my eardrum. Without a tube the infection usually proceeds until a
hole develpops in the ear drum.

I have tried operating at the lowest possible airway pressure, but still get
air into my ear.

Does anyone know of a surgical or mechanical way of diminishing the entry of
air through the eustachian tube? I'd be much interested in comments.
