I also use a vent for sleeping, because of PPS. I've also been up in the
Rockies - and suffered the same symptoms you did. In the 12 years I've had
this situation I've flown quite a lot, including going overseas, and have
never noticed any problem on the airplanes. I usually take my vent as carryon
luggage, but not always.
