Annette,
The Puritan-Bennett 2801 has a handle. I don't remember the 2800
not having a handle. Anyway, the 2801 has some added features that you
may or may not like. Maybe you should check into it?

I use a SCI-O-TECH super vac model #91-8502 in the house. It's not very
large for a house suction machine. Half the time I go to a relatives
house I take that one because it works better and it isn't as loud as
the portable.
