I have 283 hrs/month of Personal Assistant Care (that's the
maximum # of hours available here in CA). I have 8 hrs/dy of LVN care
through an agency (when they can maintain staff!). I live in a house
shared by my parents and brother (also disabled). We all pool our
resources, SSI, Soc.Sec., Dad's pension, to get by and pay the mortgage.
My Mom does the cooking.
Personally, I think my situation is a classic example of the
wasteful system we have in this country. The only reason I have LVN
care is because the number of hours alotted to me by the state is
insufficient to meet my personal care needs. Our personal attendant
