I am a retired (on disability from post polio syndrome) physician
psychiatrist. I had polio as a child and began to have respiratory
difficulties from 1967 to 1970 with repeated episodes of respiratory failure
secondary to scoliosis and respiratory infections. In 1970, I accepted a
permanent trach and got a ventilator at home. It performed a miracle. I
only used the ventilatory at night and worked 12 hour days in my practice
until last July. I had to retire because of post polio syndrome. I now use
the ventilator during the day as needed with a mouth piece and still sleep at
night on the ventilator. I have used a cascade humidifier all of this time
and it has worked well for me. I do not set the temperature of the
humidifier very high.
Your English is excellent.
