Don't you have a 12 volt backup battery? One of these should
give you about 10-12 hours of time. Your medical supplier should
provide you with a backup battery (12v) as part of their monthly service
contract, if you have one. I have been told any respiratory supplier is
required by law to provide a backup battery. I think it is a Federal
regulation, although I'm not sure.
A generator is a very good idea, though. Any backup battery
won't give you more than 12 hours at most. Because I live in
"earthquake country" (aka. CA) I have a portable backup generator,
although it needs servicing. I'm afraid I don't know the specs of it.
There are some small, quiet portable generators on the market that are
given good ratings. Honda makes a good one. So does Sears and Black &
Decker. Any of these should provide more than enough voltage for any
vent. They are a very good investment in a feeling of security in event
of an emergency.
