Hi Annette,
I am glad that your experience with Dr. Sanjabi has been so positive. My
experience with him was not a good one. Once when I ended up with an
excruciating migraine in the emergency rm. of the hospital, he screamed
at my husband for calling him so late at night. He said he had to see
patients in the morning and my husband was bothering him! He was no
longer my doctor after that incident although he did later apologize for
his inexcusable behahior. I was vomiting and choking. Definitely a
life-threatening experience for someone with severe respiratory problems.
My husband had never called him at home before. When he was my doctor, he
knew nothing about the ventilation equipment I used. Thank God GINI
Laurie and some of the other polio experts recommended that I go to St.
Louis for help. He has NEVER attended one polio conference in St. Louis
which deals primarily with all types of ventilation though they have been
held every two yrs. As you know, C'dale is only 2 hrs. from car to St.
Louis. Not every doctor is right for every patient. I am so glad to know
that your doctor saved your life and that he is now knowledgeable about
pps and ventilation. I had him as a doctor in the early to late 1980's.
His real specialty was black lung disease due to the high population of
coal miners in the area. I was the one that provided Dr. Sanjabi with the
book on pps. I applaud your efforts to sensitize the doctors in C'dale to
the needs of persons with disabilities. It is so needed. I hope to move
back to C'dale some day. My family doctor there was the best I ever had.
I wish you great happiness and success!
Val
