Those kind of inner cannulas with the flnges are meant to be changed. They
are disposable. I would try a new inner cannula. That #6 Shiley comes in a
blue box and you can get the inner cannulas separately
Are you also using a passy-muir? Maybe it is air build-up and you need a
fenestrated trach. That #6 Shiley comes in an orange brown box.
The company also makes a #6 Shiley with a twisty lock inner cannula. That one
comes in a red box.
Do you have the right kind of inner cannula for the trach you have now??
Unfortuneately , to change the type of inner cannula from flange to twist
and lock, you have to also change the trach itself. :(
I hope you get this figured out soon. Those noises are annoying.
And you are sure that the noise is coming from the inner cannula and not
radiating there from someplace else.
