Your overview on influenza and the need for the flu shot was very
thorough and comprehensive. I never knew about the split/series. I have
elected not to get the flu vaccine as I have a weird immune system. My
doctor and I conducted research and both determined it wouldn't be a good
idea for me. I did have a pneumonia shot. Today, there is an article in
the Indianapolis Star about a man who had a flu-shot last yr. and came
down with Gullian Barre. I keep a prescription drug on-hand called
"flumadine" which is an anti-viral drug. If I feel a cold coming on, I
pop a pill (for 10 days). The Flumadine either aborts the virus or
greatly diminishes the flu's effects. Its predecessor, Amantadine is
sometimes used to treat pps. For most people, I agree it's best to have
the vaccine. Thanks for the info,
