Actually it can be used to prevent pneumonia. Whenever I get a cold I use
the Inexsufflator several times a day to clear secreations which I can't
cough up on my own. Without this machine I would get pneumonia from every
cold. Also, whenever I get a cold I take antibiotics preventatively. I also
take a flu shot every year. Yogurt also seems to decrease cold frequentcy.

I have two Puritan Bennett Companion 2801 volume ventilators. One is on
my wheelchair..
