SUCKING AIR, DOING WHEELIES is my unpublished autobiography. You
can read excerpts at http://www.eskimo.com/~dempt/polio.html. Just
look under Remembrances.

My 750-page autobio, only available in ASCII on 3 1/2" and 5 1/4"
floppy disc, has 850k of my words in 23 chapters spanning my life
from my birth in 1946 till my torrid love affair with a hearing
impaired woman in 1994 -- despite the fact I was on a respirator
24 hours a day. You'll also read how I contracted polio on my 5th
birthday, my two years in the polio hospital in 1951-1953, my time
in an iron lung, how I then went to a crip school and a Catholic
school in the 1950's, my spinal fusions in 1960-61, my bout with
depression in 1969 (the Summer of Love - except for me), and how
I ended up on a respirator twenty years after polio. There are
also chapters on Hofstra University, where I went with Ron Kovic
of BORN ON THE FORTH OF JULY fame, in the 1960's and 70's. You can
read more about SUCKING AIR, DOING WHEELIES on my home page at
