I sometimes read New Mobility magazine, and I just started to subscribe to
ABLED, which is for women with all kinds of disabilities or chronic
illnesses. I'm reading all that I can get my hands on concerning polio. This
is a new interest of mine because I suddenly have this burning desire to
understand myself better and just become more aware. Years ago during my
hospitalization with the acute polio, I learned that if I give my voice away,
the drs. and nurses won't yell at me. Over the years I've sometimes had to
pay a big price with my health because I continued to behave like a
7-year-old girl in the face of a big medical crisis. When I finally realized
what I was doing, I became angry. Never again will I just give my voice away
because if I don't speak up for myself, who will? I see it as my
responsibility to read and educate myself; I've spent too much of my life in
denial.

How about you? What magazines do you recommend? I learn something from this
forum every single day. I am so grateful for all of you who participate.
