Hi Cody,
When I came home from the hospital right after having my trach, the medical
staff who were responsible for this transition set me up with Lifeline (I
think that's what it's called, but I might very well be wrong.). I don't
remember that much about it, but I think that I had to press a button and then
talk. This alerts an operator who has all of this information about you and
knows who to call to come to your home to help you. I don't think that there
was even charge for it; but if there was, it was nominal. Since I didn't
really need it, I had them take it out of the house after a month.

I have a very elderly aunt who is legally blind and who insists on continuing
to live alone in her home. She often falls, but she is unable to get up on her
own so she uses this a lot. It really works. (And just an aside here—I hope
that I've inherited her strong bones. This woman is 93, is always falling
down, but has never broken a bone! Amazing!)

Check into it, Cody. It will probably put your mind at ease on this issue.
