Cody,
You are sooo right!! I had a trach for a year and the main reason I had it
removed was because of the discomfort. I have a severe scoliosis including
my neck area. The regular trachs irritated my trachea so much that I could
not turn my head from side to side without the trach causing me to cough
and gag. I wish I had known about custom trachs then. Also, you are right
about doctors not really being concerned about your comfort. They have the
attitude - deal with it - it makes our job much easier. If I ever need a
trach again, I'll know what to do. Thanks again. It's good to know some is
on our side.
