Hi,

Do you like NFL football? Do you watch NFL football? Do you
keep track of the teams as the season goes on? Do you pick teams
to win games? Would you be interested in playing a "Football

1998, please e-mail me at Ricsport(AT)aol.com for further details.
If you know others that might be interested, please give them
my e-mail address.

Thanks,

I am still dealing with some defective trachs. Since mid September I have
tried 5 Shiley size 6 cuffless trachs. Each one has had severe leakage
between the trach tube and the inner cannula. The only way it is sealed is
by using a rubber band. It is very frustrating. My medical supplier has
talked to Shiley several times. So called Quality Control at Shiley has
narrowed the problem to what I described. (So I am not crazy), But they
cannot figure out way it is happening.

We have looked into other companies..but had little luck from some reason.
We did get a Simms Portex trach today. I haven't tried it because I not
sure I like it. Does any of you vent users have such a trach and tell me
what you think of it? It just looks different from what I am used to...

I could use some help..I am becoming very very frustrated with this whole
situation.

Thanks...

I remember you writing me about Bivona trachs. My vent supplier was told that (by who I don't know) that these particular trachs aren't made anymore.

I guess I am going to have to take matters in my own hand and deal with this trach stuff. Cody...I will look at your web page..

Thanks.. annette

You are sooo right!! I had a trach for a year and the main reason I had it removed was because of the discomfort. I have a severe scoliosis including my neck area. The regular trachs irritated my trachea so much that I could not turn my head from side to side without the trach causing me to cough and gag. I wish I had known about custom trachs then. Also, you are right about doctors not really being concerned about your comfort. They have the attitude - deal with it - it makes our job much easier. If I ever need a trach again, I'll know what to do. Thanks again. It's good to know some is on our side.

Annette,

I used a portex trach for many years. The disposable inner canula fits completely inside the outer canula and the swivel adapter connects to the outer canula. Since the inner canula fits inside the outer canula, you won't have the problem of air leaking between the two canulas. With Shiley tubes, the swivel adapter connects to the inner canula (if I remember correctly.) The Portex inner canulas have a ring on the end for pulling the inner canula out when you change inner canulas. I have swithced to a Bivona. I didn't switch because there was something wrong with the Portex per se, it was because the hard plastic tube was rubbing the inside of my trachea and causing it to bleed. That would have happened with any hard tube. The only problem I have with the Bivona tubes is that they don't have an inner canula.
