I sure can relate to the "noise factor" of the LP-10. Mine both
made a lot of noise. I think it is natural for them to be somewhat
noisy, especially as they age. In fact, the LP-10 is now considered
"obsolete" by the manufacturer, Aequitron. As of this past September, no
one will even service them. They are being pulled out of service in
favor of the LP-10plus, Aequitron's newer model. It sounds like your
supplier just stuck you with this 'ol clunker they had sitting around
their warehouse waiting for the junkyard. Sounds familiar! Been there,
done that!
I have my old LP-10 in my closet as an emergency back-up. It
still runs pretty well. Now I have an LP-10plus at my bedside. On my
wheelchair I now have a PLV-100. I decided to switch from a LP-10plus
because the smaller size of the PLV-100 made it much easier to fit on my
new wheelchair, an Invacare Storm Series. Before getting the PLV-100, I
was forced to have my LP-10plus mounted on my chair with one of those
ridiculous, and impractical vent racks made by LaBac. I hate those
things! It puts your vent so far out in back it makes driving a
wheelchair like handling an 18 wheeler. I was wreaking havoc on the
doorcases, furniture, etc. Because of the smaller size of the PLV-100,
my wheelchair shop was able to build this great little vent rack that
allows my vent to be tucked neatly under the front of the seat, behind my
legs.
As for your problem getting Medicare/Medicaid to repair these
vents, they are jerking you around. Although Medicare no longer
purchases vents, they now rent them for clients (this is c
