We took down our tree today and put all of the decorations away for another
year. Otherwise it's been a nice quiet day here.
Last night my husband, 16-year-old daughter, her best friend, and I went to
Worcester, Mass. to a rock concert! I had to get lots of rest during the day
and eat really nutritiously to be able to do it. I didn't know how I'd be able
to handle it, but once I made it into the Centrum and got to our seats it
wasn't bad. I brought along and wore a very good set of earplugs! It was an
extremely bitterly cold night and I was all bundled up.
I did get myself into quite a bind which almost was my undoing. We had never
been there before, and I had my husband let me and the girls out by what I
thought was the main entrance and he went on to find a parking spot. Well, it
wasn't the main entrance at all, and I had to walk the equivalent of a very
long city block. I wished that I'd brought a little portable O2 canister with
me, but I didn't. There was no place to stop and sit so that I could get my
breathing under control. Finally we made it and my husband got there at the
same time. A security guard let us in through a door that only the press and
the TV people can enter. A young man working there was so alarmed when he saw
me that he asked if he should get First Aid for me, and the security guard
wanted to get me a chair. I had pushed myself beyond my limitations, and it
took me quite awhile to get my breathing under control! I was very alarmed.
I'm usually so good about looking ahead so that I don't get myself into a bind
like this. It will be another New Year's Eve to remember! (The other was 9
years ago when my health hit rock bottom and I ended up in ICU the next day
and had my trach later in January of that year. ) Thankfully the rest of last
evening was very enjoyable!
