My father was involved in a car accident a year ago and he suffered a c-4
complete SCI and is on a vent. We had alot of problems with him gettng one
infection after another. My sister was looking at what kind of vitamins he
was receiving through the food he is feed through his j-tube and she found
out that there was no vitamin e in the food or the vitamins he was being
given. Vitamin E helps your immune system. Well we go some really good
vitamins and have the home health care nurses crunch them up and dissolve
them and give them to him 3 times a day. Since we have started doing he has
not gotten an infection in about probably over 2 months time. I think the
vitamins are really helping him.
My family, my mother, my sister and I had a little bit of a battle trying
to get him home but we just would not take no for an answer and he finally
returned home since May 97 right before Christmas and is still at home. He
is really doing good! My father who was a very fit 74 year old man-walking
5 miles every day was working at the time of the accident and all his claims
go through workers compensation. We wanted to have my dad home and out the
hospitals where he kept getting one infection after another.
I hope this helps and that you will be able to come home soon.

PS. It's a funny thing about life: if you refuse to accept anything but
the best, you very often get it. (wish I had said it but its by W. Somerset
Maugham)
