The NEV 110 is a Negative Pressure ventilator, originally manufactured by
LifeCare (Colorado), now distributed by Respironics. It is used in
conjunction with a Port-a-Lung, chest cuirass, pnuemosuit or pnuemowrap.
The NEV 100 itself weighs about 40 pounds. Except for long distance trips
we keep the NEV 100/Port-a-Lung stationary for venting Kristen during the
night. For her intermittent daytime venting , we use the hospital model of
the Hayek Oscillator with a chest cuirass which weighs 125 pounds and rolls
through the school or our house. Both systems are cumbersome, but
ventilate effectively.
