IDEA Threat Continues
OUR ADVOCACY IS NEEDED NOW!
Reports from TASH and other advocacy groups indicate that
we are having an impact on the attempt in the Senate to amend
and weaken the IDEA. Reliable reports are that Senator Gregg
is not as intent to offer the IDEA Flexibility Amendment as
before. Indications from Congress and other sources are that
his office still has not drafted language for the amendment.
That's good for our side, but we must continue our advocacy to
assure that the IDEA is not amended. The special interest
groups who want to do harm to our children's rights to an
appropriate education by winning local control are not relenting
in their advocacy, *SO NEITHER CAN WE*.
Our message should be:
* No substitutions or amendments to HR 2646 related to
IDEA
* Vote NO to any bill or amendment that will affect IDEA
* Please don't play politics on the backs of children with
disabilities! We need to put our focus where it belongs,
on implementation of IDEA.
Call, write, fax and e-mail your Senators -- NOW!
