The site is however very nearly inaccessible to text browsers, even the
newest Lynx that handles frames, and to tell the truth, the frames you did
put in did not add anything to the site for me, and IMHO could very well
be omitted. Frames usually end up making you scroll around more to see
the stuff you actually want, and I have seen only a few sites where they
were a real enhancement. This is also the first time I have seen an
imagemap that the newest Lynx could not handle- how did you manage that???
Arrghh.
I'd put those links to the main parts of your site on the main home page
and/or a navigation bar that will appear on every page. To get to the
info on the site without a frames-capable browser, although you don't have
a link or notice on how to get to it, I figured out that you can use the
URL http://members.tripod.com/~Nivusers/Infob instead. Now I AM going to
re-visit to see your links page and check out the Quicktime video and see
if you put up some pictures of the different aids you describe. I really
do recommend looking up Web accessibility guidelines because you
potentially have an extraordinarily valuable site here offering nearly
unique information.
Please don't feel bad about the access concern (but do jump right in and
fix it!!) Actually the main Australian MDA site just got updated and needs
fixed also, and my own hopsital's home page is rather a mess with frames
and animations but they put in a link to a site outline that is navigable
with a text browser at my urging to preserve good accessibility. I refer
people to http://www.nyise.org/access.htm for info on Web accessibility
guidelines, which may also offer you some good links as well even though
it is blind-oriented.
Trivia- "not intended" is 2 wds (on home page) and breath is the noun and
breathe is the verb. Those who can;t type love to correct those who can;t
spell. :-) In IE, the graphic with the acronym on the main page does not
read very easily to me either.
