I love the sound and view of waves breaking on the shore. The visual rhythm is hypnotic and the sound soothing.

Seaweed
Seaweed chokes the Puget Sound in large part because we’re dumping so much nutrients into the water between inadequately treated sewage outflows, lawn run off in streams, and farm run off. Mechanical harvesters are used to control it and the harvested seaweed is used to make electricity, but it would be better if we stopped the unnatural flow of nutrients from there various sources and cleaned up the Sound.
Along with nutrients that makes seaweed grow rapidly, there are also toxic heavy metals that make eating bottom fish and shell fish from the region hazardous. I’d like to know how much radio-active waste has been dumped over the years from Bangor but I’m sure that’s classified 85 levels above Top Secret. At any rate, it’s an ugly mess and something needs to be done to clean it up.
Puget Sound Poisoned
This sign is at Carkeek Park, just north of Golden Gardens by about two miles, just on the north side of Elliot Bay. I can’t imagine that the crabs they catch at Golden Gardens are much better yet they allow people to catch crabs there. I think it’s a shame that we’ve polluted our environment so badly we can’t even eat food from the area.
