The blue implement avoids dog slobber.

     Notice that there is another ball not four feet from where Mei’s ball landed, but he doesn’t want that ball, no he wants Mei’s ball.  And she chased him around the dog park trying to recover it, then my son and my wife chased him around the dog park.  A silly and futile gesture since no way were they going to catch him.  Finally that dogs owner recovered the ball and returned it to us.

     Mei at the Shoreline dog park. My oldest son Carl was throwing a ball for her to chase but several other dogs took an interest in it too so she is defending it here not that she ever really gets vicious about anything.

     The lightning stopped.  We got some brief rain afterwards, not enough to really help though.  What’s left of my lawn is brown, even some of the trees are turning brown and that’s not good.  They’ve got deep roots and if they’re not getting enough water it means the water table has really receded and it’s going to take some substantial rain to restore.

     It’s overcast, and there is thunder and lightning happening close by but no rain which is unusual.  Usually after the first thunderclap a downpour commences here.  Not today.

     King5 Weather says, “A thunderstorm rolls through area”.  I guess they’re right because it’s here.  It’s always easier to report the weather than to predict it.

     Here is a picture of the remnants of the coal gasification plant.  This is the only remains of a coal gasification plant left in the United States.  This plant operated from 1906 until 1956 to provide gas for Seattle Gas Lighting Company.  It was bought by the City of Seattle in 1962 and opened as a park in 1975.

     Here is another photo from the hill in Gas Works Park.  This one is the South Western shore of Lake Union, even more cranes.

     This is a photo I took of Downtown Seattle, the South shore of Lake Union from the big hill in Gasworks Park, the only remaining remnants of a coal gasification plant in the United States.  Notice all the cranes, a real construction boom going on there.
