=-=-=-=-= Society of the Rusting TARDIS Newsletter (#27, 11/21/95) -=-=-=-=-= >>> Items of interest to British media fans and Seattle-area residents, <<< >>> and whatever else I feel like spewing about. You have been warned. <<< =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= Did you ever suddenly realize that the tentrils of your life were really like long talking earthworms with heads shaped like giant wisks with huge mouths singing old "Loverboy" songs in a Scooby-Doo voice? And that the people around you are like talking canned hams basted in a cotton/polyester sauce? And that you've never seen your father and Spiro Agnew in the same place at the same time? And that you're being followed by a flock of flying shetland wharf rats whose fur is moussed just like Duran Duran's hair during their "Rio" period who keep eating all your medication? Anyway, if no news is good news, then this is one of the best newsletters ever. (For you recent subscribers, yes, there really news in these things occasionally.) Since I'll probably be pathetically idle during most of Thanksgiving weekend I'll should get an early start on the next one. In this issue: Quick news items Upcoming SotRT events =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= Subject: Quick news items Sound bites: Nope. Local news: Through next Tuesday (November 28th), the Varsity will be showing "The Kingdom", a Denmarkian film that has been compared to "Twin Peaks". It was named best film at the 1995 Seattle International Film Festival. I haven't seen it (yet), but I haven't heard any complaints (even about the 5-hour running time). And "Festival Hong Kong" returns 11/30 through 12/03 with an old Jackie Chan film ("Snake in Eagle's Shadow") and a Jackie Chan parody ("High Risk"). Call 632-3131 for show times. The next Emerald City Androgums gathering will be December 9 in Issaquah. For more info, contact Eric Gjovaag (tiktok@eskimo.com) a bit closer to the 9th, by which time he should know the details. Miscellany: Orycon was fun. You should have been there. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= Subject: Upcoming SotRT events Currently planned for the next Rusting Tardis video night (November 22), at Round Table Pizza, 5111 25th Ave. NE (in Seattle): Have I Got News for You: an episode from last season that slipped through the cracks Goodnight Sweetheart: Series 2, episode 3 Harry Enfield and Chums: Episode 4 Glam Metal Detectives: the "missing" first episode Bottom: Season 4(?), episode 4 [reflects weight before cooking, some settling of contents may occur during shipping, offer void where prohibited, batteries not included, your milage may vary, not to be taken internally, do not fold spindle or mutilate, if a rash develops consult your physician, objects in mirror are closer than they appear, offer good at participating retailers, legal tender for all debts public and private, no warantee intended or implied, for novelty purposes only, shipping and handling not included, no salesperson will call] Coming soon: The latest season of "A Bit of Fry and Laurie", "Fist of Fun", and the classic "tub of lard" episode of "Have I Got News for You".
