The Mockingbird Society
By linking foster-care families together in a network,
and offering young people in foster care a safe place to go that's an
alternative to the streets, the Mockingbird Society provides the "social
capital" that might otherwise be missing in these lives. Join in a
conversation with Jim Theofelis, its founder and ED, about how this attempt
to weave a more supportive fabric in the community has developed.
For more information about the Mockingbird Society,

Notes:
Lemieux Library is
the white building NW of the Student Center; the Simpson Room is on the
ground floor. Coffee and other refreshments are available in the
Student Center.
Every other
month, the Civil Society Gathering features a wide-ranging discussion with
an interesting guest or guests.
They are organized by Executive Alliance, building on the Civil Society
in Everyday Life meetings presented by The Evergreen State Society from the
late 1990s.
They
usually take place on the third Tuesday of odd numbered months from 8 to 9:30 am on the Seattle University
campus. The November 2004 meeting will be in Room 110 of
Hunthausen Hall (note: this is not the usual
location). Free. Drop-ins welcome. The
cafeteria in the Student Center has beverages and breakfast items available
for purchase.
Announcements
of these and other events of interest to nonprofit people and other relevant
news and commentary can be read regularly in the email distributions of
NonprofitNetworking. For information on how to subscribe, visit
