2002-03 Mavs Injuries
5/29 Dirk Nowitzki (left knee sprain), Shawn Bradley (right knee
sprain), and Evan Eschmeyer (sore left knee) did not play in
games 4, 5, and 6 against San Antonio.
5/24 Dirk Nowitzki's MRI on his left knee showed that he has a
medial retinacular sprain (ligaments that holds the knee
cap).
5/24 Shawn Bradley's MRI on his right knee showed that he has a
sprained MCL.
5/23 Dirk Nowitzki left the game during the 4th quarter with a
sprained left knee.
5/23 Shawn Bradley left the San Antonio game 3 during the 3rd
quarter with a sprained right knee.
5/21 Eduardo Najera did not play in game 2 in San Antonio due to a
sore lower thigh and knee.
5/17 Adrian Griffin did not play in games 4, 5, 6, or 7 against
Sacramento due to a sprained right ankle.
4/1 Michael Finley did not play in the New Orleans, Minnesota,
Portland, LA Clippers, Denver, Phoenix, or San Antonio games
due to a strained left hamstring.
3/18 Shawn Bradley played limited minutes in the Cleveland game
due to a sore left knee.
3/18 Michael Finley left the Cleveland game at the end of the 1st
half with a strained left hamstring.
3/16 Shawn Bradley suffered a mild knee injury when he fell to the
floor and landed on the knee during overtime of the Sacramento
game.
3/14 Dirk Nowitzki left the Golden State game late in the 2nd
quarter with a sprained left ankle and did not return.
3/8 Walt Williams did not play in the Utah game due to a sprained
left index finger.
3/7 Walt Williams did not play in the Miami game due to a sprained
left finger.
3/4 Shawn Bradley was cut below his right eye at the end of the
3rd quarter of the New Jersey game and received 7 stitches and
did not return.

a left thigh contusion.
1/8 Shawn Bradley did not play in the Atlanta game due to a
strained right thigh.

Milwaukee, or New York games due to a strained left knee.
12/26 Walt Williams suffered a strained left knee during the 2nd
quarter of the New Orleans game and did not return.
12/26 Adrian Griffin aggravated his dislocated right shoulder
during the 1st quarter of the New Orleans game and did not
return.
12/14 Dirk Nowitzki (sprained right ankle) did not play in the
Memphis game.
12/11 Dirk Nowitzki (sprained right ankle) and Adrian Griffin
(partially seperated right shoulder) did not play in the San
Antonio game.
12/10 Adrian Griffin suffered a partially dislocated right shoulder
during the 3rd quarter of the Clippers game and did not play
the rest of the game.
12/10 Dirk Nowitzki suffered a high left ankle sprain during the
1st quarter of the Clippers game and did not play the rest of
the game.
12/10 Walt Williams did not play in the LA Clippers game due to a
sprained right elbow.
12/7 Eduardo Najera (left knee surgery) and Walt Williams
(tendinitis right elbow) did not play in the Golden State games.
12/6 Eduardo Najera did not play in the LA Lakers game due to
surgery on his left knee.
12/6 Eduardo Najera underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee
and is expected to be out 6 to 8 weeks.
12/4 Eduardo Najera did not play in the Portland game due to a sore
left knee.
12/4 Michael Finley did not travel with the team to Portland on
Tuesday due to the flu, but did join the team on Wednesday and
played in the Portland game.

11/28 Evan Eschmeyer (arthroscopic surgery right knee) did not play
in the Seattle, Detroit, or Indiana games.
11/21 Evan Eschmeyer (arthroscopic surgery right knee) did not play
in the Houston game.
11/19 Evan Eschmeyer (arthroscopic surgery right knee) and Popeye
Jones (back spasms) did not play in the LA Lakers game.
11/19 Evan Eschmeyer underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right
knee to repair damaged cartilage. He is expected to be out 4
to 6 weeks.
11/16 Evan Eschmeyer (strained right knee) and Popeye Jones (back
spasms) did not play in the New Jersey, Boston, Cleveland,
Portland, or Detroit games.
11/16 Evan Eschmeyer is expected to undergo surgery on his right
knee this week to repair cartilage damage.
11/11 Nick Van Exel underwent surgery on his right knee this morning
to repair damaged and torn cartilage. He is expected to be out
3 to 6 weeks.
11/8 Raef LaFrentz (sprained right ankle) and Evan Eschmeyer
(strained right knee) did not play in the Chicago or Toronto
games.
11/4 Raef LaFrentz did not play in the Golden State game due to a
sprained right ankle.
11/4 Raef LaFrentz was diagnosed with a 3rd degree right ankle
sprain and is expected to be out 3 to 6 weeks.
11/2 Raef LaFrentz suffered a high ankle sprain early in the 3rd
quarter of the Phoenix game and was helped off the court.
10/24 Popeye Jones did not play in the Orlando or Boston games due
to back spasms.
10/22 Popeye Jones suffered from back spasms on Tuesday and did not
travel with the team for the 2-game road trip.
10/19 Popeye Jones (sprained right ankle) and Tariq Abdul-Wahad
(sore right knee) did not play in the Milwaukee game.
10/17 Michael Finley (inflamed left knee), Raef LaFrentz (sore right
heel and his turn to sit), Popeye Jones (sprained right
ankle), and Tariq Abdul-Wahad (sore right knee) did not play
in the Detroit game.
10/15 Don Nelson did not coach in Tuesday's Detroit game as he
stayed in Dallas to undergo tests on his sore lower back.
The tests came back negative and did not show the problem
to be anything more than muscular.
10/15 Michael Finley (slightly inflamed left knee and his turn to
skip a game), Popeye Jones (sprained right ankle), and
Tariq Abdul-Wahad (sore right knee) did not play in
Tuesday's Detroit game.
10/11 Steve Nash (sore left hand and his turn to skip a game),
Popeye Jones (sprained right ankle), and Tariq Abdul-Wahad
(sore right knee) did not play in the Milwaukee game.
10/10 Popeye Jones (sprained right ankle), Nick Van Exel (sore
right knee), and Tariq Abdul-Wahad (sore right knee) did not
play in the Denver game.
10/8 Popeye Jones did not play in the Sacramento game due to a
sprained right ankle.
5/31 Dirk Nowitzki underwent successful surgery on his left ankle to
remove 4 bone spurs. He is expected to be out of basketball
related activities for 4 to 6 weeks.
5/29 Dirk Nowitzki's left ankle surgery to remove bone spurs has been
rescheduled for Friday morning.
5/24 Dirk Nowitzki's ankle surgery that was scheduled for today has
been postponed until next week as he has a sinus infection.
5/21 Nick Van Exel has opted not to undergo surgery on his left elbow
and will undergo a conservative rest therapy to try to heal the
problems he has had with the elbow.
5/21 Adrian Griffin underwent successful surgery on his back to
remove a herniated disc. It will be at least 6 weeks before he
can participate in any basketball related activities.
5/15 Dirk Nowitzki will undergo surgery on his left ankle May 24
to have bone spurs removed.
5/15 Adrian Griffin will undergo back surgery May 21 to correct a
troublesome disk.
5/15 Eduardo Najera had a cast placed on his fractured right
thumb. He will have to wear the cast for at least 10 to 14
days, when doctors will re-evaluate the injury.
