- 6/30 Dallas exercised their 12-13 options for Rodrigue Beaubois and
Dominique Jones.
- 6/27 Rodrigue Beaubois underwent surgery on his left foot. The surgery
was to address problems related to the injury that occured last summer.
- 6/23 The NBA draft occurred. Dallas was involved in a draft day trade
and traded both of their draft picks. In a 3 team traded, Dallas traded
away the rights to #26 Jordan Hamilton and the rights to #57 Tnaguy Ngombo
and received Rudy Fernandez and the rights to 2007 #30 draft pick Petteri
Koponen; Denver traded away Raymond Felton and received Andre Miller, the
rights to #26 Jordan Hamilton, and a future Portland 2nd round draft pick;
and Portland traded away Rudy Fernandez, Andre Miller, the rights to 2007
#30 draft pick Petteri Koponen, and a future 2nd round draft pick and
received Raymond Felton and the rights to #57 Tanguy Ngombo.
- 6/21 Toronto named Dwane Casey as head coach. Casey had been an
assitant coach with Dallas since 08-09.
- 6/16 The Mavs held their Championship celebation with a parade
from the Convention Center to the AAC in the morning followed by a rally
in the AAC for season ticket holds. There was a ton of people in downtown
(estimates were 200,000) for the parade with many arriving very early to
get a spot along the route and by parade time all spots were at least 5
people deep, with many 20 or more deep, and with people along spots above
in buildings and (most impressive) the 3-tier parking garage. The parade
went off without a hitch with no major problems (or arrests).
- 6/12 In Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Dallas defeated Miami 105-95 in
Miami and takes the series 4-2 and are the 2011 NBA Champions!!! Dallas
held an 81-72 lead entering the 4th quarter. Miami scored the first 5
points of the quarter, but Dallas then scored the next 8 points and Miami
would get no closer than 7 points the rest of the way. Jason Terry had 27
points including 11-16 FG, Dirk Nowitzki had 21 points including 9-27 FG
and 1-7 3-pointers and 11 rebounds, J.J. Barea had 15 points and 5
assists, Shawn Marion had 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Jason Kidd had 9
points and 8 assists. LeBron James (Mia) had 21 points including 9-15 FG
and 6 assists, Chris Bosh (Mia) had 19 points and 8 rebounds, Mario
Chalmers (Mia) had 18 points and 7 assists, Dwyane Wade (Mia) had 17
points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

- 6/9 In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Dallas defeated Miami 112-103 in
Dallas. Both teams had runs in the 4th quarter as Miami used a 9-0 run to
take a 99-95 lead with 4:40 left and then Dallas went on a 13-2 run,
capped by a 3-pointer by Jason Terry, to take a 108-101 lead with 34
seconds left. Dallas shot 56.5% (39-69) FG including 13-19 3-pointers.
Dallas had just 26 rebounds, setting the team playoff record low,
including 4 offensive, tying the team playoff record low. Dirk Nowitzki
had 29 points including 10-10 FT and 6 rebounds, Terry had 21 points and 6
assists, and J.J. Barea had 17 points including 4-5 3-pointers and 5
assists. Dwyane Wade (Mia) had 23 points including 10-12 FT and 8
assisats, Chris Bosh (Mia) had 19 points nad 10 rebounds, and LeBron James
(Mia) had a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
- 6/9 Dallas activated Rodrigue Beaubois and placed Brendan Haywood

- 6/7 In Game 4 of the NBA Finals, Dallas defeated Miami 86-83 in
Dallas. Miami scored the first 5 points of the 4th quarter to take a
75-65 lead with 10:10 left, but Dallas then went on a 15-4 run to take an
80-78 lead with 4:35 left. After 2 scoreless minutes (both teams), Dirk
Nowitzki hit 2 free throws, but Chris Bosh (Mia) answered with 2 free
throws with 2 minutes to go. The teams again traded misses and Dwyane
Wade (Mia) hit 1-2 FT to pull Miami within 81-82 with 30 seconds to go.
But Nowitzki drove for a righty layup with 15 seconds left. After a
timeout, Wade drove for a dunk (with Dallas defending the 3-point line)
with 9 seconds left and Jason Terry was intentionally fouled and hit both
free throws with 6.7 seconds to go. Wade bobbled the inbounds pass and
Mike Miller's (Mia) 3-point attempt was way off. Nowitzki (playing with a
fever) had 21 points on 6-19 FG and 9-10 FT and 11 rebounds, Terry had 17
points, and Tyson Chandler had 13 points and 16 rebounds including 9
offensive. Wade (Mia) had 32 points including 13-20 FG and Bosh (Mia) had
24 points. LeBron James (Mia) had just 8 points including 3-11 FG, 9
rebounds, and 7 assists - his first non-double-digit scoring playoff game.

Dallas. Miami held small leads throughout the 4th quarter, none larger
than 7 points. The game was tied at 86-86 with 1:40 left. The teams
traded misses. Chris Bosh (Mia) hit a baseliner with 40 seconds left and
Dirk Nowitzki turned the ball over with 30 seconds left. LeBron James
(Mia) missed a 3-pointer late in the clock with 5 seconds to go and and
Nowitkzi missed a tough shot at the buzzer. Dwyane Wade (Mia) had 29
points including 12-21 FG and 11 rebounds, Bosh (Mia) had 18 points, and
James (Mia) had 17 points and 9 assists. Nowitzki had 34 points and 11
rebounds and Jason Terry had 15 points.

- 6/2 In Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Dallas defeated Miami 95-93 in
Miami. Miami led 88-73 with 7:15 left, but Dallas closed the game with a
22-5 run, during which Dallas shot 9-10 FG and Miami shot 1-10 FG. A
3-pointer by Dirk Nowitzki tied the game at 90-90 with 27 seconds left,
but Mario Chalmers (Mia) answered with a 3-pointer out of a timeout. Dallas
ran some time off the clock and Nowitzki drove for the game winning lefty
layup with 3.6 seconds left. Miami was out of timeouts and Dwyane Wade's
(Mia) long 3-point runner was off at the buzzer. Nowitzki had 24 points
and 11 rebounds, Shawn Marion had 20 points including 9-14 FG and 8
rebounds, and Jason Terry had 16 points and 5 assists. Wade (Mia) had 36
points including 13-20 FG, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists and LeBron James
(Mia) had 20 points and 8 rebounds.

strained right hip flexor and did not return.

Miami. The game stayed close as neither team held more than an 8 point
lead through 3 quarters. Miami led 77-70 with 4:15 left and Shawn Marion
converted a 3-point play 15 seconds later. Miami then went on an 8-2 run
to take an 85-75 lead with 2:45 remaining and Dallas would get no closer
than 7 points the rest of the way. Neither team shot well as Miami shot
38.8% (31-80) FG and Dallas shot 37.3% (25-67) FG. LeBron James (Mia) had
24 points including 4-5 3-pointers, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, Dwyane Wade
(Mia) had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Chris Bosh (Mia) had

late in Game 1, but continued to play.
- 5/25 In Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, Dallas defeated
Oklahoma City 100-96 in Dallas to take the series 4-1 and win the Western
Conference Championship and advance to the NBA Finals, where they will
face the winner of the Chicago-Miami series!!! Oklahoma City led 90-83
with 5:50 left, but Dallas then went on a 15-4 run, capped by a 3-pointer
by Dirk Nowitzki and 3-point play by Shawn Marion, to go up 98-94 with
with 50 seconds left (each team scored 2 free throws down the stretch
(with Dallas getting an offensive rebound with 16 seconds left and up by
2). Nowitzki had 26 points and 9 rebounds and Marion had 26 points and 8
rebounds. Kevin Durant (OKC) had 23 points and 9 rebounds, James Harden
(OKC) had 23 points on 7-11 FG and 8-10 FT and 6 assists, and Russell
Westbrook (OKC) had 31 points and 8 rebounds. It will be Dallas' 2nd trip
to the NBA Finals (2006).
- 5/23 In Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, Dallas defeated
Oklahoma City 112-105 in overtime in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City had a
99-84 lead with 5:04 left in the 4th, but Dallas used a 17-2 run,
including 12 points by Dirk Nowitzki, to tie the game and send it into
overtime - Kevin Durant's (OKC) 3-point attempt with 2 seconds left was blocked
by Shawn Marion. A 3-pointer by Jason Kidd gave Dallas a 108-105 lead with 40
seconds to go. Russell Westbrook (OKC) drove and missed and Dallas shot 4
free throws on intentional fouls to cap the scoring. Dallas out-scored
Oklahoma City 11-4 in overtime. Nowitzki had 40 points on 12-20 FG and
14-15 FT, Jason Terry had 20 points and 4 steals, and Kidd had 17 points,
5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Durant had 29 points including 9-10
FT, 15 rebounds, and 9 turnovers, Westbrook had 19 points including 7-22
FG, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists, and Serge Ibaka (OKC) had 18 points, 10
rebounds, and 5 blocks.
- 5/21 In Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, Dallas defeated
Oklahoma City 93-87 in Oklahoma City. Dallas jumped out to a 27-12 lead
in the 1st quarter and led the entire game. The Thunder did rally in the
2nd half to within 4 points late in the game, but Dallas hit their free
throws to seal the win. Shawn Marion had 18 points on 9-13 FG, Jason Kidd
had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals, and Dirk Nowitzki had
a poor outing with 18 points including 7-21 FG and 7 turnovers, but 10 of
his points came in the 4th quarter. Russell Westbrook (OKC) had 30 points
including 13-14 FT and 7 turnovers and Kevin Durant (OKC) had 24 points on
7-22 FG, 0-8 3-pointers, and 10-11 FT, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists.

defeated Dallas 106-100 in Dallas. The game stayed close throughout with

points gave Oklahoma City a 102-92 lead with 3:15 left and Dallas would
get no closer than 4 points the rest of the way. Kevin Durant (OKC) had
24 points, James Harden (OKC) had 23 points including 4-7 3-pointers and 7
rebounds, and Russell Westbrook (OKC) had 18 points. Dirk Nowitzki had 29
points, Tyson Chandler had 15 points and 13 rebounds including 6
offensive, and Jason Kidd had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5
steals.
- 5/17 In Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, Dallas defeated
Oklahoma City 121-112 in Dallas. Dallas out-scored Oklahoma City 35-21 in
the 2nd quarter and led the rest of the game, though the Thunder did manage to
pull within 5 points with 3:40 left in the 4th quarter, but Dallas then
went on a 6-1 mini-run to take a 112-102 lead with 2:10 left and Oklahoma
City was unable to get closer than 7 points the rest of the way. It was a
free throw shooting contest as Dallas shot 34-36 FT and Oklahoma City shot
37-43 FT - with Dirk Nowitzki shooting 24-24 FT (NBA playoff record for
most makes without a miss), Kevin Durant (OKC) shooting 18-19 FT, and
Russell Westbrook (OKC) shooting 14-18 FT. Nowitzki had 48 points (2 off
his playoff high) including 12-15 FG, Jason Terry had 24 points including
4-8 3-pointers, and J.J. Barea had 21 points. Durant (OKC) had 40 points,
Westbrook (OKC) had 20 points including 3-15 FG, and Serge Ibaka (OKC) had
17 points including 7-11 FG.
- 5/12 Dirk Nowitzki was named to the All-NBA 2nd team. With 437
points including 47 1st place votes, Nowitzki had the most points for the
2nd Team players (Kevin Durant (OKC) have the fewest points for the 1st
team with 492). It was the 11th straight year that Nowitzki has been
named to an All-NBA team.
- 5/10 The NBA suspended Andrew Bynum (LAL) for 5 games for his
flagrant foul on J.J. Barea during Sunday's Dal-LAL game and fined him
$25,000 for taking off his jersey as he left the court. Bynum will serve
his suspension at the start of the next regular season.
- 5/8 In Game 4 of the playoffs, Dallas blewout the LA Lakers 122-86
in Dallas to sweep the Lakers 4-0 and advance to the Western Conference
Finals. Dallas out-scored the Lakers 36-16 in the 2nd quarter and it
wasn't close the rest of the way. Dallas set a team playoff record in
shooting 60.3% FG including 20-32 3-pointers - tying the NBA playoff record for
3-pointers made. Jason Terry had 32 points including an amazing 11-14 FG
and 9-10 3-pointers - tying the NBA playoff record for 3-pointers made.
Peja Stojakovic had 21 points including an amazing 7-7 FG and 6-6
3-pointers and J.J. Barea had 22 points including 9-14 FG and 8 assists.
Kobe Bryant (LAL) had 17 points and Shannon Brown (LAL) had 15 points.
It was Lakers' coach Phil Jackson last game as he retired.
- 5/8 The NBA fined Phil Jackson (LAL) $35,000 for his comments to
the media on Thursday about how the officials were not calling fouls
committed on Pau Gasol (LAL).
- 5/6 In Game 3 of the playoffs, Dallas defeated the LA Lakers 98-92
in Dallas. The Lakers led 85-78 with 5:10 left and Dallas went on a 10-2 run
to take a 88-87 lead with 2:40 to go. A jumper by Lamar Odom (LAL) tied the
game at 91-91 with 1:40 left, but Dirk Nowitzki answered with a pseudo-hook
inside. Odom missed and Peja Stojakovic missed, but Dallas got the
rebound and Jason Terry was fouled with 19 seconds left and hit both to
give Dallas a 95-91 lead. After a timeout, the Lakers turn the ball over
on the inbounds and Terry was intentionally fouled. Nowitzki had 32
points including 12-19 FG and 4-5 3-pointers and 9 rebounds and Terry had
23 points including 7-10 FG. Andrew Bynum (LAL) had 21 points and 10 rebounds,
Odom had 18 points and 6 rebounds, and Kobe Bryant (LAL) had 17 points and 6
assists.
- 5/5 The NBA suspended Ron Artest (LAL) for 1 game and assessed him
a flagrant foul for hitting J.J. Barea in the face late in Wednesday's
Dal-LAL game.
- 5/4 In Game 2 of the playoffs, Dallas defeated the LA Lakers 93-81
in LA. Dallas led the entire 2nd half and scored 9 straight points to
take their largest lead at 84-69 with 4:40 left and would lead in
double-digits the rest of the game. Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points and 7
rebounds and Shawn Marion had 14 points and 9 rebounds. Kobe Bryant (LAL)
had 23 points and Andrew Bynum (LAL) had 18 points and 13 rebounds
including 7 offensive.

in LA. The Lakers led most of the game with their largest lead of 16 points

Nowitzki hit a jumper, Jason Terry stole the ball and Nowitzki was fouled

seconds left to give Dallas a lead. The Lakers turned the ball over with
3 seconds left and Kidd hit 1-2 FT and Kobe Bryant's (LAL) 3-pointer at
the end bounced off the back of the rim. Nowitzki had 28 points and 14
rebounds, Terry had 15 points, and Kidd had 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 11
rebounds. Bryant (LAL) had 36 points and Pau Gasol (LAL) had 15 points,
11 rebounds, and 7 assists. The Lakers set a Mavs opponent playoff low
with just 12 fouls.
- 5/2 Dallas activated Corey Brewer and placed Rodrigue Beaubois (no
injury) on IL.
- 4/28 In Game 6 of the playoffs, Dallas defeated Portland 103-96 in
Portland to take the series 4-2 and advance to the 2nd round where they
will face the LA Lakers. Dallas took a 17 point lead late in the 3rd
quarter, but Portland cut Dallas' lead down to 86-85 with 5:25 left, but
Jason Kidd hit a 3-pointer and Jason Terry hit a long jumper to give
Dallas a 6 point lead and Portland would get no closer than 4 points the
rest of the way. Dirk Nowitzki shot 8-8 FT over the last 30 seconds of
the game as Portland intentionally fouled. Nowitzki had 33 points on
11-17 FG and 11-11 FT and 11 rebounds, Terry had 22 points and 8 assists,
and Shawn Marion had 16 points. Gerald Wallace (Por) had 32 points and 12
rebounds, LaMarcus Aldridge (Por) had 24 points and 10 rebounds, and

Dallas. Dallas led 67-60 with 2:30 left in the 3rd quarter and then used
a 17-7 run to blow the game open at 84-67 with 6:30 left. Portland did
close the game with an 11-2 run to make the final margin closer. Dirk
Nowitzki had 25 points and 8 rebounds, Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 20
rebounds including 13 offensive, Jason Terry had 20 points, and Jason Kidd
had 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 14 assists. Andre Miller had 18 points and
7 assists and Gerald Wallace had 16 points and 9 rebounds.
- 4/23 In Game 4 of the playoffs, Portland defeated Dallas 84-82 in
Portland. It was an ugly game for Portland through 3 quarters as Dallas
held a 23 point lead late in the 3rd quarter, but Portland scored the last
5 points of the 3rd quarter and then went on to dominate Dallas in the 4th
quarter in out-scoring Dallas 35-15 in the quarter. Brandon Roy (Por) hit
the game winning jumper with 40 seconds left. Jason Kidd missed a
3-pointer with 30 seconds left, Portland ran the clock down and Roy missed a
3-pointer with 4 seconds left (and Dallas out of timeouts), and Jason
Terry missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Portland shot 15-20 FG in the 4th
quarter while Dallas shot just 5-17 FG. 18 of Roy's game high 24 points
came in the 4th quarter. LaMarcus Aldridge (Por) had 18 points. Dirk
Nowitzki had 20 points and Shawn Marion had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
- 4/21 In Game 3 of the playoffs, Portland defeated Dallas 97-92 in
Portland. The game stayed closed throughout, but Portland held a mostly
small lead the entire 4th quarter. After Portland scored 10 straight
points to take the largest game of the lead at 87-74 with 8:05, but Dallas
scored the next 7 points. Portland took a 95-87 lead with 2:20 left, but
Dallas scored the next 5 points to pull within 95-92 with 13 seconds left,
but it was Portland's ball. After an intentional foul, Andre Miller (Por)
hit both free throws to seal the win. LaMarcus Aldridge (Por) had 20
points and Wesley Matthews (Por) had 25 points. Dirk Nowitzki had 25
points and 9 rebounds and Jason Terry had 29 points including 10-13 FG and
5-7 3-pointers - they were the only Mavs in double-digit scoring.
- 4/19 In Game 2 of the playoffs, Dallas defeated Portland 101-89 in
Dallas. The game stayed close with both teams holding small leads
through 3 quarters, with none larger than 8 points. Dallas held small
leads throughout the 4th quarter and consecutive jumpers by Dirk Nowitzki
gave Dallas a 94-84 lead with 2:50 left. After 2 Portland free throws,
Nowitzki scored the next 5 points to give Dallas their largest lead at
99-86. Nowitzki had 33 points including 15-17 FT, Peja Stojakovic had 21
points including 5-10 3-pointers, and Jason Kidd had 18 points including
7-11 FG and 8 assists. LaMarcus Aldridge (Por) had 24 points and 10
rebounds, Gerald Wallace (Por) had 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Andre

voting. Lamar Odom (LAL) was the run-away winner with 513 points, Terry

comments criticizing the officiating following Saturday's Por-Dal game.
- 4/16 In game 1 of the First Round of the Playoffs, Dallas defeated
Portland 89-81 in Dallas. Dallas held small leads most of the first 3
quarters (none larger than 10 points). Portland went on a 17-4 run
spanning the 3rd and 4th quarters to take a 68-63 lead with 8:30 left.
Portland had their largest lead of 6 points with 6:10 left, but Dallas
then went on an 11-2 run, including 9 points by Dirk Nowitzki, to take a
77-74 lead with 3:15 left. After a layup by Andre Miller (Por) pulled
Portland within 78-80 with 1:50 left, Jason Terry hit 2 free throws and
Jaosn Kidd nailed a 3-pointer to give Dallas a 7 point lead with 25 seconds
left. Nowitzki had 28 points on 7-20 FG and 13-13 FT and 10 rebounds -
with 18 of his points and all 13 free throws coming in the 4th quarter.
Kidd had 24 points on 9-14 FG and 6-10 3-pointers and Terry had 10 points
as Dallas only had 3 players in double-digits scoring. LaMarcus Aldridge
(Por) had 27 points, Miller (Por) had 18 points, and Marcus Camby (Por)
had 4 points on 2-3 FG and 18 rebounds.
- 4/16 Dallas placed Caron Butler (torn right patella tendon),
Rodrigue Beaubois (sprained left foot), and Dominique Jones on IL.
- 4/15 The NBA held the tiebreakers (random drawing) for the 6 teams
that finished with the same record to determine the draft order and
lottery chances.
Dallas won the tiebreaker with the LA Lakers (57-25) and, thus, Dallas
will draft #26 and New Jersey (which owns the Lakers' pick) will draft #27.
- 4/13 Dallas finished the 2010-11 season with a record of 57-25,
tied for 2nd best in the Western Conference. The LA Lakers had the
tie-breaker with Dallas, so Dallas is the #3 seed in the West and will
face #7 Portland Trailblazers in the First Round of the Playoffs.
- 4/13 Dallas defeated New Orleans 121-89 in Dallas. New Orleans led
61-58 at the half, but Dallas turned on the defense in the 3rd quarter and
out-scored the Hornets 28-13 in the quarter to take an 86-74 lead after 3.
Dallas then made it a blowout in taking a 102-81 lead with 6:45 left. Dallas
out-scored New Orleans 63-28 in the 2nd half. The 32 point victory margin
tied the 17th largest in team history. Dirk Nowitzki had 32 points and
J.J. Barea had 14 points and 8 assists. Jarrett Jack (NO) had 22 points
and 7 assists and Chris Paul (NO) had just 7 points including 2-9 FG.
- 4/13 Rodrigue Beaubois did not play in the 2nd half of the New
Orleans game due to a left foot sprain.
- 4/13 Dallas activated Brendan Haywood and placed Peja Stojakovic
(personal reasons) on IL.
- 4/11 Dallas defeated Houston 98-91 in overtime in Houston - it was
Dallas' 1st overtime game of the season. The game stayed close with
neither team holding more than a 7 point lead. Jason Terry hit 1-2 FT
with 1.5 seconds left (and neither team controlled the rebound, so time
expired) to send the game into overtime. Dallas scored the first 4 points
of overtime and the last 4 points in overtime and Houston never led in
overtime as Houston only scored 5 points on 2-12 FG. Shawn Marion had 21
points, Terry had 21 points, and Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 12
rebounds. Kevin Martin (Hou) had 28 points and Goran Dragic (Hou) had 15
points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in playing all 53 minutes.
- 4/11 Dallas activated Ian Mahinmi and placed Brendan Haywood (no
injury) on IL.
- 4/10 Dallas defeated Phoenix 115-90 in Dallas. It was a blowout
almost the whole way as Dallas jumped out to an early 17-4 lead and led
36-17 after 1. Phoenix (who never led in the game) got not closer than 16
points the rest of the game. Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points and Shawn Marion
had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Marcin Gortat (Pho) had 15 points.
- 4/10 Dallas activated Jason Kidd and placed Ian Mahinmi (no injury)
on IL.
- 4/8 Dallas defeated the LA Clippers 107-96 in Dallas. The Clippers
took a 16 point lead early in the 2nd quarter, but only led by 7 points at
the half. Dallas scored 14 straight points in the 3rd quarter to take a
63-65 lead with 6 minutes left. The Clippers pulled within 88-89 with 7
minutes left in the 4th, but Dallas then scored the next 9 points.
Dirk Nowitzki had 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists and Corey Brewer
had 20 points. Maurice Williams (LAC) had 29 points including 5-9
3-pointers and Blake Griffin (LAC) had 23 points and 9 rebounds. Jason
Kidd (rest) again did not play.
- 4/6 Denver defeated Dallas 104-96 in Dallas. Denver held a 16
point lead early in the 3rd quarter, but Dallas managed to get back in to
the game and actually took a 77-76 lead with 9:25 left in the 4th quarter,
but Denver then scored the next 5 points. The game was tied at 94-94 with
2:50 left and Denver scored the next 10 points (and Dallas had a
meaningless bucket with 20 seconds left).
J.R. Smith (Den) had 23 points and Kenyon Martin (Den) had 18 points.
Shawn Marion had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Dirk Nowitzki had 20 points,
and Brendan Haywood had 19 rebounds including 8 offensive (with just 1
point (0-1 FG, 1-6 FT)).
- 4/6 Dallas activated Tyson Chandler and placed Jason Kidd (rest) on
IL. Chandler (sore lower back) did not play in the Denver game.
- 4/4 Dennis Rodman was named as an inductee for 2011 for the
Basketball Hall of Fame. Rodman played 12 games with Dallas in 99-00. He
joins Alex English and Adrian Dantley as former Mavs players in the Hall
of Fame [interestingly, all 3 ended their careers with Dallas].
Coach Dick Motta was nominated for the 2011 class, but not selected as an
inductee.
- 4/3 Portland defeated Dallas 104-96 in Portland. Portland went on
a 16-5 run in the 2nd quarter to go up 59-44 with 48 seconds left and
Portland would hold a double-digit lead until 10 seconds left in the game.
Gerald Wallace (Por) had 19 points and 8 rebounds and LaMarcus Aldridge
(Por) had 18 points and 8 rebounds. Shawn Marion had 19 points and
Rodrigue Beaubois had 18 points.
- 4/3 Dallas activated Corey Brewer and placed Tyson Chandler (sore
back) on IL.
- 4/2 Golden State defeated Dallas 99-92 in Golden State. Dallas
pulled within 90-93 with 2 minutes left, but Golden State closed the game
with a 6-2 mini-run. Monta Ellis (GS) had 32 points including 4-8
3-pointers and Al Thornton (GS) had 12 points (all in the 4th quarter) and
9 rebounds. Shawn Marion had 21 points and 8 rebounds and Jason Terry had
17 points. J.J. Barea had his 3rd career double-double with 13 points and
11 assists (and also had 5 rebounds).
- 4/1 The NBA suspended Matt Barnes (LAL) for 1 game for escalating
an altercation between Jason Terry and Steve Blake (LAL) during Thursday's
Dal-LAL game. Terry's flagrant foul on Blake was downgraded to a level 1.
The league also gave Dirk Nowitzki a flagrant foul level 1 for his shove
on Kobe Bryant (LAL) late in the 4th quarter (was called just a regular
foul).
- 3/31 The LA Lakers defeated Dallas 110-82 in LA. The LA Lakers led
79-70 with 35 seconds left in the 3rd quarter and Lamar Odom (LAL) ended the
quarter with a 3-pointer and then Odom connected on consecutive 3-pointers
to open the 4th quarter and had a layup to give the Lakers a 90-70 lead
with 10:25 left. Dallas would get no closer than 11 points the rest of
the way. There was a scuffle with 9:23 left when Jason Terry shoved Steve
Blake (LAL) and the two went toe-to-toe - it would have been a non-event if
Matt Barnes (LAL) hadn't got involved in shoving some people - everyone
was eventually seperated and the refs tossed Barnes, Blake, Terry and
Brendan Haywood (though I still have no idea what, if anything, Haywood did
to deserve ejection). The Lakers out-scored Dallas 56-31 in the 2nd half.
Kobe Bryant (LAL) had 28 points, Pau Gasol (LAL) had 20 points, Andrew
Bynum (LAL) had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Odom had 16 points and 11
rebounds. Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points and 13 rebounds.
- 3/30 Dallas defeated the LA Clippers 106-100 in LA. Dallas went on
a 19-5 run to take a 96-80 lead with 5:45 left. The Clippers did score
the next 11 points, but a 3-pointer and layup by J.J. Barea ended their run.
Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points and Barea had 22 points, including 16 in the
4th quarter. Blake Griffin (LAL) had 25 points including 10-14 FG and 17
rebounds and Maurice Williams (LAL) had 19 points.
- 3/27 Dallas defeated Phoenix 91-83 in Phoenix. The game was tied
at 83-83 with 1:10 left when Jason Kidd nailed a 3-pointer as the shot
clock was running out. After Phoenix missed a 3-pointer, Kidd connected
on another 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining. And 2 free throws by Kidd
capped the scoring as he scored the last 8 points of the game. Tyson
Chandler had 16 points and 18 rebounds, Kidd had 16 points including 4-7
3-pointers, and Jason Terry had 16 points. Marcin Gortat (Pho0 had 20
points and 15 rebounds and jared Dudley (Pho) had 20 points.
- 3/26 Dallas defeated Utah 94-77 in Utah. Utah led 70-68 with 6:20
left, but a 3-pointer by J.J. Barea followed by a 3-pointer by Jason Terry
kicked off a 26-7 Dallas run to close the game. Dallas out-scored Utah
36-17 in the 4th quarter. Terry had 22 points including 4-5 3-pointers
and Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points. Al Jefferson (Uta) had 21 points (before
being tossed after clapping at a ref in the last minute of the game).
Devin Harris (Uta) and Andrei Kirilenko (Uta) did not play.
- 3/26 Shawn Marion scored his 15,000 career point during the Utah game.
- 3/24 Dallas achieved their 11th straight season with at least 50
wins, becoming the 3rd team in league history with 11 straight (also San
Antonio (at 12 straight, 1999-current) and LA Lakers (12 straight,
1979-1991).
- 3/24 Dallas defeated Minnesota 104-96 in Dallas. The game stayed
close with neither team holding more than an 8 point lead. Minnesota
pulled within 96-98 with 1:15 left, but Jason Terry then connected on a
3-pointer as Dallas scored the last 6 points of the game. Dirk Nowitzki
had 30 points and 11 rebounds, Terry had 18 points, and Shawn Marion had
17 points. Anthony Randolph (Min) had a career high 31 points. Kevin

- 3/20 With Dallas' win over Golden State, Dallas formally clinched a
playoff berth.

17 point lead early in the 2nd quarter, but Golden State managed to cut
Dallas' lead down to just 60-56 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
Dallas then went on a 39-14 run to make the game a blowout. Dirk Nowitzki
had 20 points, Peja Stojakovic had 17 points including 5-8 3-pointers
(after missing the previous 6 games with a stiff neck), and Tyson Chandler
had 7 points and 17 rebounds. Monta Ellis (GS) had 18 points.

(sprained right wrist) on IL.
- 3/18 San Antonio defeated Dallas 97-91 in Dallas. San Antonio built
up a 40-22 lead early in the 2nd quarter, but only led 50-45 at the half.
Dallas managed to tie the game at 60-60 with 6:50 left in the 3rd quarter,
but San Antonio scored the next 9 points. San Antonio went on a 13-2 run
in the 4th quarter to take a 91-77 lead with 2:35 left. Tony Parker (SA)
had 33 points including 14-22 FG, Manu Ginobili (SA) had 25 points, and
Tim Duncan (SA) had 22 points. Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 9 rebounds
and Jason Terry had 19 points.
- 3/18 Shawn Marion did not play in the 2nd half of the San Antonio game
due to an injured right wrist. He is listed as day-to-day.

Golden State jumped out to a 32-14 lead in the 1st quarter and
also led by 18 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter, but only led 59-53 at the
half. Dallas scored 15 straight points in the 4th quarter to take a
104-96 lead with 3:10 left. Dirk Nowitzki had 34 points including 12-12
FT and 13 rebounds, Jason Terry had 19 points, and Rodrigue Beaubois had
18 points. Monta Ellis (GS) had 26 points and 11 assists and David Lee
(GS) had 22 points including 10-14 FG.
- 3/16 Brendan Haywood missed his 2nd straight game with lower back
stiffness. Peja Stojakovic remains out with a stiff neck.

- 3/12 The LA Lakers defeated Dallas 96-91 in Dallas. Though the
Lakers led most of the game, their lead never got larger than 10 points.
Dallas pulled within 89-91 with 25 seconds left on a dunk by Shawn Marion
and Dallas intentionally fouled Pau Gasol (LAL) and he hit 1-2 FT. After
a timeout, Jason Terry missed a short jumper with 13 seconds left and that

- The NBA fined Marco Belinelli (NO) $10,000 for his flagrant foul on
Shawn Marion during Wednesday's Dal-NO game and upgraded the flagrant foul
to a level 2.
- 3/9 New Orleans defeated Dallas 93-92 in New Orleans. Dallas led
92-85 with 1:13 left and New Orleans scored the last 8 points of the game,
capped by 3 free throws by Jarrett Jack (NO) with 8.4 seconds left. Dirk
Nowitzki missed a jumper with 1.5 seconds left. Chris Paul (NO,
concussion) did not play. Jack had 21 points and Marco Belinelli (NO0 had
21 points. Nwoitzki had 26 points and Tyson Chandler had 16 points and 13

- 3/9 Shawn Marion left the New Orleans game midway through the 3rd
quarter with bruised ribs and did not return.

quarter. Kevin Love (Min) had 23 points and 17 rebounds, his 51st
straight game with a double-double, tying Mose Malone for the longest

- 3/6 Memphis defeated Dallas 104-103 in Dallas. Dallas led by 18 in
the 1st half, but Memphis out-scored Dallas 41-23 in the 3rd quarter and
neither team led by more than 4 points in the 4th quarter. Shane Battier
(Mem) got an offensive rebound and athletic layup to give Memphis a
102-101 lead with 14 seconds left. Dirk Nowitzki hit a tough free throw
jumper with 3 seconds, but Zach Randolph (Mem) swished a baseline jumper
with .3 seconds left. Jason Terry's long 3-point attempt was way off.
Randolph had 27 points and 9 rebounds. Nowitzki had 23 points and Terry
had 26 points.
- 3/6 Jason Kidd surpassed Gary Payton (2,445) for 3rd place on the
NBA's All-Time steals list. Kidd trails Michael Jordan (2,514) and John
Stockton (3,265) on the list.

to an early 22-3 lead with 6:16 left in the 1st quarter, but Dallas was
able to cut Toronto's lead down to just 7 points at the half. Dallas
out-scored Toronto 25-15 in the 3rd quarter and made the 4th quarter a
blowout by out-scoring Toronto 39-24. Dirk Nowitzki had 31 points and 13
rebounds, Shawn Marion had 20 points, and Jason Terry had 19 points.
- 2/26 Dallas defeated Washington 105-99 in Washington. Dallas was
never able to pull away in the game (Dallas' largest lead was 13 points).
8 straight points Washington tied the game at 97-97 with 1:36 left, but
Tyson Chandler got the putback dunk and Dallas hit 4-5 FT to push their
lead to 6 points with 38 seconds left. Jason Terry had 25 points, Dirk
Nowitzki had 21 points, and Tyson Chandler had 23 points and 13 rebounds.
Washington only shot 6-16 FT (including 0-6 FT in the 4th), setting the
opponent low for free throw percentage in a game (37.5%).
- 2/23 Dallas defeated Utah 118-99 in Dallas. Despite the unexpected
morning trade by Utah of star Deron Williams to New Jersey for Devin
Harris and Derrick Favors (with none of those players available for the
Dallas game), the Jazz hung tight for a half before Dallas was able to use
a 15-6 run to take an 86-73 lead with 1:35 left in the 3rd quarter. Dallas
scored the first 5 points of the 4th quarter and Utah got no closer than
14 points the rest of the game. Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and Peja
Stojakovic had 18 points. Al Jefferson (Uta) had 30 points including
11-14 FG and 8 rebounds.
- 2/20 In the All-Star game in Los Angeles, the West defeated the

- 2/19 Team Texas (consisting of Dirk Nowitzki, Kenny Smith, and
Roneeka Hodges) finsihed 2nd in the Shooting Stars competition on All-Star
Saturday Night in Los Angeles. The team had the shortest time in the
first round with 31.8 seconds. Team Atlanta and Texas advanced to the
finals and Team Atlanta went first and finished with a time of 1:10. Team
Texas stopped shooting at 1:18, knowing they had lost.
- 2/19 As they have been doing for the past few years, the Guinness
Book of World Records was at the All-Star practice with a new category.
The new record was most 3-pointers made by two players (alternating makes)
in a minute. From the East, Ray Allen (Bos) and Paul Pierce (Bos) made 13
3-pointers. Then, from the West, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant (OKC)
surpassed them by making 15 3s to set the new record.
- 2/18 Former Mavs coach Dick Motta was one of 12 people nominated
for the Basketball Hall of Fame. He will need 18 of 24 votes from the
Honors Committee to be inducted in to the Hall, with the announcement
of unductees occurring April 4.
- 2/17 Dallas defeated Phoenix 112-106 in Phoenix. It was a close
game throughout with Dallas' largest lead just 10 points and Phoenix's 4
points. Dallas did lead the entire 4th quarter, but Phoenix pulled within
2 points twice and Dallas had an answer each time. Dirk Nowitzki had 35
points including 13-18 FG and 3-3 3-pointers and Jason Terry had 16 points
and 7 assists.
- 2/17 J.J. Barea did not play in the Phoenix game due to being ill.
- 2/16 Dallas defeated Sacramento 116-100 in Dallas. Though
Sacramento came back and tied the game at 70-70 with 6;24 left in the 3rd
quarter, Dallas scored the next 13 points to kick off 24-4 run to go up
94-74 with 1;10 left in the 3rd and it was a blowout the rest of the way.
Jason Kidd had 20 points on 7-9 FG and 6-7 3-pointers and 7 other Mavs

(stress fracture right foot) on IL.
- 2/12 Dallas defeated Houston 106-102 in Houston. Dallas built up a
23 point lead in the 3rd quarter, but Houston was able to put a run
together and pulled within 92-95 with 2:15 left, but Dallas answered with
consecutive buckets and then hit their free throws down the stretch. Dirk
Nowitzki had 22 points and Peja Stojakovic had 22 points including 4-6
3-pointers. Stojakovic surpassed Dale Ellis (1,719) for 4th place on the
All-Time 3-pointers made list.
- 2/11 Dominique Jones underwent surgery on his right foot to repair
a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal and is out indefinitely.
- 2/10 Denver defeated Dallas 121-120 in Denver. It was a game of
runs as Denver held an 18 point lead in the 2nd quarter and Dallas held a
13 point lead in the 4th quarter. Denver closed the game with an 11-1
run, capped by the game winning jumper by Arron Afflalo at the buzzer.
Jason Terry had 25 points and Tyson Chandler had 20 points and 11
rebounds. Carmelo Anthony (Den) had 42 points, Chauncey Billups (Den) had
30 points and 9 assists, and Afflalo had 24 points, including 19 in the
4th quarter.

took a 95-94 lead with 2:30 left, but Dallas then connected on consecutive

- 2/8 Dallas announced that Bob Ortegel has been fired as TV analyst.
He had not been with the team for two weeks. He had been broadcasting for
Dallas for 23 years. Derek harper will be the TV analyst for home games
and Brad Davis will be the TV analyst for road games (while still doing
radio analyst for home games).
- 2/8 Dominique Jones suffered a stress fracture in his left foot
last week and he will be out for a significant period of time.
- 2/7 Dallas defeated Cleveland 99-96 in Dallas. Though Dallas built
up a 15 point lead in the 2nd quarter, the Mavs were never able to pull
away. Cleveland scored 7 straight points to pull within 97-94 with 1:40
left, but could get no closer, including missing a 3-point attempt with 3
seconds left and then not getting off a final shot. J.J. Barea had 23
points and Tyson Chandler had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
- 2/7 Dirk Nowitzki hurt his right wrist at the end of the 1st
quarter of the Cleveland game, but returned to action in the 2nd quarter
with tape on his wrist. DeShawn Stevenson also left the court early in the
1st quarter, but also returned to action later in the 1st quarter.

- 2/5 Dallas defeated Charlotte 101-92 in Charlotte. Dallas took
their largest lead at 71-53 with 6:15 left in the 3rd quarter. Though it
wasn't a pretty game the rest of the way, it was a big enough cusion for
Dallas as Charlotte could get no closer than 6 points (with a minute
left). Dirk Nowitzki had 25 points and Jason Terry had 21 points.
- 2/4 Dallas defeated Boston 101-97 in Boston. It was a close game
with neither team holding more than an 8 point lead. With Boston up by 1,
Dallas inbounded with 15 seconds left and Dirk Nowitzki caught the ball (at
his ankles) in the paint and then kicked out to Jason Kidd, who let the
defender fly by him and then drained a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left.
After a timeout, Rajon Rondo's attempted inboud-lob pass flew out of
bounds with no one touching it and 2 free throws by Nowitzki capped the
scoring. Nowitzki had 29 points and Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 15
rebounds. Jason Terry surpassed 15,000 career points during the game.

Tyson Chandler remained out with the flu.
- 1/15 Memphis defeated Dallas 89-70 in Memphis. Memphis took a
59-41 lead with 5:45 left in the 3rd quarter and it was a blowout the rest
of the game. Dirk Nowitzki picked up 2 technicals for complaining to the
refs 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter and was ejected. Dallas' 4 main
guards (Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, DeShawn Stevenson, J.J. Barea) combined
to shoot just 8-38 FG. Ian Mahinmi had 17 points including 6-6 FG. Zach
Randolph (Mem) had a 20-20 with 23 points and 20 rebounds.

on IL. Nowitzki had missed the previous 9 games with a sprained knee -
the longest amount of time he had missed in his career.

within 87-93 with 3:45 left, but Indiana scored the next 7 points to put
the game away. Jason Terry had 18 points. Dirk Nowitzki remained out
with a strained knee.

shot 34% FG in the 2nd half and Oklahoma City led by 11 points with 1:20
left. Shawn Marion had 25 points and Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 18
rebounds. Dirk Nowitzki remained out with his knee injury.
- 1/5 Dallas released Steve Novak.
- 1/4 Dallas defeated Portland 84-81 in Dallas. 5 straight points by
Jason Terry gave Dallas a 79-77 point lead with 1:30 left. After Portland
hit 1-2 FT, Terry found DeShawn Stevenson in the corner who named a
3-pointer, but Wesley Matthews (Por) banked in a 3-pointer. Terry hit a
jumper with 13 seconds left and LaMarcus Aldridge (Por) missed a 3-pointer
as the game ended. 12 of Terry's 18 points came in the 4th quarter.
- 1/3 Caron Butler underwent surgery on his right knee to repair a
torn patella tendon and is out for the rest of the season.
- 1/2 Dallas defeated Cleveland 104-95 in Cleveland. Dallas took
their largest lead at 76-59 with 4:50 left in the 3rd quarter and
Cleveland got no closer than 9 points the rest of the game. DeShawn
Stevenson had 21 points, Shawn Marion had 22 points, and Tyson Chandler
had 14 points and 14 rebounds as all 5 starters were in double-digits

teams rules (rumor has it that Haywood got in a "heated discussion" with
coach Carlisle in practice). Dallas activated Alexis Ajinca and placed

Dallas out-scored Oklahoma City 36-22 in the 4th quarter. Dirk Nowitzki
had 34 points (including 17 in the 4th quarter) and Tyson Chandler had 17

layup by Dirk Nowitzki pulled Dallas within 97-98 with 9 seconds left.
Jason Kidd stole the ball on New Orlean's inbounds attempt, but Nowitzki
turned the ball over with 2 seconds left and 1-2 FT by David West (NO)
capped the scoring (Dallas was out of timeouts and Dallas' full-court inbounds
pass was intercepted).
- 11/17 Dallas activated Caron Butler and placed Steve Novak on IL.
- 11/15 Dallas defeated New Orleans 98-95 in Dallas in an exciting
game. Dallas out-scored New Orleans 29-19 in the 4th quarter. Jason
Terry hit a jumper with 35 seconds left to break a 95-95 tie and Dirk
Nowitzki hit 1-2 FT with 2.8 seconds left after New Orleans missed on 3
attempts. Emeka Okafor's (NO) 3-point attempt wasn't close at the buzzer.
It was New Orleans' (8-1) first loss of the season (and the Hornets were
the last undefeated team in the league). Terry had 26 points and Nowitzki
had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Caron Butler again sat out with back
spasms and remains listed at day-to-day.
- 11/15 Roddy Beaubois is no longer wearing a walking boot for his
injured foot, but will still be out for a few more weeks as they continue
to take his recovery slow.
- 11/12 Dallas defeated Philadelphia 99-90 in Dallas. J.J. Barea had
19 points and Brendan Haywood had 6 points and 17 rebounds including 9
offensive. [Caron Butler remained on IL with back spasms - he hopes to
return to action for Monday's game.]

game winning jumper with 17.4 seconds left. Rajon Rondo (Bos) missed an
open 3-pointer with 3.8 seconds left and Kevin Garnett's heave from the
corner was no where close to the rim at the buzzer. Nowitzki had 25
points and 7 rebounds and Tyson Chandler had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- 11/8 Caron Butler did not play during the 4th quarter of the Boston
game due to back spasms.
- 11/6 Denver defeated Dallas 103-92 in Dallas. Denver out-scored
Dallas 24-13 in the 4th quarter. Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 6
rebounds and Jason Terry had 26 points including 10-17 FG.
- 11/3 Dallas defeated Denver 102-101 in Denver. Carmelo Anthony's
(Den) 15-footer rattled out with 1 second left. Dirk Nowitzki had 35
points and 12 rebounds and Jason Terry had 20 points including 4-5 3-pointers.
- 10/31 Dallas defetaed the LA Clippers 99-83 in LA. Caron Butler
had 17 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Jason Kidd
swished a 3-pointer from the opposing free throw line at the halftime
buzzer.
- 10/29 Memphis defeated Dallas 91-90 in Dallas as Marc Gasol (Mem)
hit the game winning free throw with 6.7 seconds left. Dallas fumbled the
ball twice (calling timeout after recovering the first fumble with 1.9
seconds left) on inbounds at the end of the game and did not get a final
shot. Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points including 11-15 FG and 7 rebounds and
Caron Butler had 18 points and 6 reboounds. Nowitzki missed a free throw
in the 2nd quarter to end his consecutive free throws made streak (regular
season) at 82 - 3rd longest in NBA history (behind 97 by Micheal Williams
(in 1993) and 87 by Jose Calderon (in 2009)).

Charlotte in Dallas. Dirk Nowitzki had 28 points including 11-13 FG and
13 rebounds, Jason Terry had 22 points on 10-15 FG and 6 assists, and
Jason Kidd had 12 points and 18 assists - 18 assists tied the 4th most in

- 10/11 Rodrigue Beaubois is back in a walking boot after a minor
setback in his rehab - he had recently been participating in shooting
drills. As before, no time-table has been set for his return, but hopes
are still that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season.

Springs, California (outdoors at Indian Wells tennis center). Dirk
Nowitzki (rest) and Jason Terry (rest) did not play and Jason Kidd (rest)

- 10/8 Rick Carlisle fainted during practice and was taken to the
hospital. He was released after a couple of hours, but did not join the
team on the trip to Palm Springs for Saturday night's game. Assuming no
medical complications are found, he'll coach the team for Monday night's
game in Dallas.

J.J. Barea, Butler, Adam Haluska, Brendan Haywood, Steve Novak, Dirk
