- 7/23 Dirk Nowitzki announced that he will play for Germany in the
European Championships, which run August 31 through September 18 and the
top 2 teams in the tournament receive Olympic berths for the 2012 Olympics
in London.
- 7/19 Dallas announced their 2011-12 schedule. See www.nba.com for
the schedule [since there is a good chance that the schedule will change
with the lockout highly likely to extend into October or later, I'm not
typing in my own listing of the schedule].
- 7/13 At the 19th annual ESPY Awards (ESPN, all sports), the Dallas
Mavericks were named as Best Team, Rick Carlisle was named as Best Coach,
and Dirk Nowitzki was named as Best NBA Player and Best Male Athlete.
- 7/1 As expected, the NBA lockout started. Teams may not make
trades, sign players, or even have contact with any players until a new
collective bargaining agreement is reach. No progress is expected to be
made for a long time (as in months) and games for the 2011-12 season could
be lost if the lockout extends into October or later.
