• 6/28 Dallas named Jason Kidd as head coach.
• 6/28 Dallas named Nico Harrison as general manager.
• 6/24 Indiana named Rick Carlisle as head coach.
• 6/18 Dallas named Dirk Nowitzki as a special assistant to the team to help with the selection of a new GM and a new coach.
• 6/17 Head coach Rick Carlisle resigned. Carlisle had been the Mavs coach since 08-09 and leaves with a record of 554-478 in 13 seasons with Dallas.
• 6/16 Mark Cuban fired GM Donnie Nelson as GM (President of Basketball Operations). Nelson had been GM since 2004 and had been with the Mavs since 1998.
• 6/15 Luka Doncic was named to the All-NBA 1st team, as voted on by members of the media (the team is voted by position (guard,forward,center). Doncic had the 4th highest point total. The All-NBA 1st team consisted of Giannis Antetokounmpo (Mil, 100 1st team votes, 500 points), Nikola Jokic (Den, 99 1st team votes, 148 points), Stephen Curry (GS, 98 1st team votes, 496 points), Doncic (55 1st team votes, 402 points), and Kawhi Leonard (LAC, 28 1st team votes, 323 points).
• 6/6 The LA Clippers defeated Dallas 126-111 in Game 7 of the 1st round to tke the series 4-3 and eliminate the Mavs.

• 5/25 The NBA fined Kristaps Porzingis $50,000 for violating COVID restrictions against players going to clubs. Porzinigis attended a strip club on Sunday night.
• 5/25 The NBA held the draft tie-breaker drawings for teams that finished with the same records. Though Dallas technically won the tie-breaker with the LA Lakers and Portland (all finished with a record of 42-30), it had no bearing on the Mavs as their picks go to other teams. The Lakers won the 2nd tie-breaker with Portland. For the draft order in the 1st round, Dallas will have the #21 pick (which goes to New York), the Lakers will draft #22, and Portland will have the #23 pick (which goes to Houston). For the 2nd round, the order is reversed. Portland has the #51 pick (which goes to Memphis via Dallas, Detroit, Cleveland), the LA Lakers #52 (to Detroit via Sacrament, Housto, Detroit), and Dallas #53 (to New Orleans).

The Mavs were tied with Portland and the LA Lakers, but finished as the 6th seed in the Western Conference due to winning the Southwest Division title (division winner being the first tie breaker, Portland placed #7 and the Lakers #8). • 3/7 In the Skills Challenge contest, Domantas Sabonis (Ind) defeated Luka Doncic in the 2nd round. The contest involved running an basketball course against another player, with the winner advancing in the 3-round contest. Doncic had a bye for the 1st round due to being an All-Star starter and the shortened contest having just 6 participants. Sabonis went on to win the contest.

• 2/18 The Dallas at Houston game for Feb 18 was postponed due to the winter storm in Texas.
• 2/16 The Detroit at Dallas game for Feb 17 was postponed due to the winter storm in Dallas.
• 2/10 With the return of fans to the arena, it was noticed that the Mavericks were not playing the national anthem before the start of the game, as has always been common practice for sporting events. They had not been doing so all season. The media picked up the story and the NBA issued a statement: "With NBA teams now in the process of welcoming fans back into their arenas, all teams will play the national anthem in keeping with longstanding league policy."
• 2/8 For the first home game in 20-21, Dallas had fans in attendance. About 1,500 (though official attendance was 1,000) first-responders and health-care workers were invited to attend the game.

• 1/10 Maxi Kleber tested positive for COVID and entered the league's health and safety protocols. He will have to remain away from the team until he tests negative multiple times. The Mavs shut down their practice facility as a precaution.
• 1/9 Dallas activated Tyler Bey and Nate Hinton and placed Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Josh Richardson on IL for health and safety protocols.
• 1/7 After the Denver game, a Mavericks player tested positive for COVID (the name of which was not released) - that player has to remain away from the team until he tests negative multiple times. 2 other players were placed in quarantine for close contact - those 2 will be away from the taem for a minimum of 7 days. As such, Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Josh Richardson remain in quarantine in Denver (and, yes, they remained in their Denver hotel during their quarantine). [Note: Brunson came back earlier than the other two, so he was one of the close-contacts. But both Finney-Smith and Richardson ended up testing positive, so which was the original and which was the close-contact is not known.]
