News from August 19.

Kenyon Martin (NJ) was named to Team USA to replace Karl Malone (Uta), who
will not play in the tournament due to the death of his mother.  The team 
will compete in this summer's FIBA Americas Olympic Qualifying Tournament
August 21-31 to try to obtain an Olympic berth for the 2004 Olympics.

Golden State named Keith Smart as an assistant coach.

The LA Clippers named Jim Eyen, Kim Hughes, Rory White, and Neal Meyer as
assistant coaches.

Miami signed 1st round draft pick (#5) Dwyane Wade to a 3 year, $8,502,480
contract with a 4th year worth $3,841,443 at the team's option.

New Jersey re-signed Lucious Harris to a reported 2 year, $5 million
contract.

The LA Lakers signed Maurice Carter, Koko Archibong, Eric Chenowith, and
Stephane Pelle.  [thanks to Jed Tia]  [Looks like the Lakers are filling 
out their training camp roster early.  These are likely 1 year, 
non-guaranteed contracts and the players will likely be cut before the 
season starts.]
