News from April 4. The NBA named J.J. Barea (Dal) and LeBron James (Cle) as Players of the Week. Barea averaged 23.5 points and 6.8 assists as Dallas went 4-0. James averaged 28 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 10.7 assists as Cleveland went 3-1. The Basketball Hall of Fame announced the inductees for the class of 2015. The inductees are: Players Allen Iverson played 14 seasons (most with Philadelphia), MVP 2001, Rookie of the Year 1997 Shaquille O'Neal played 19 seasons; won NBA Championship 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006; Finals MVP 2000, 2001, 2002; MVP 2000 Sheryl Swoopes played 12 WNBA seasons; MVP 2001, 2002, 2005; won NCAA Championship 1993 with Texas Tech Coaches Tom Izzo won 2000 NCAA Championship with Michigan State, made 7 NCAA Final Four appearances. John McLendon record 522-165 college coaching, won NAIA National Championships 1957, 1958, 1959 with Tennessee State Referee Darrell Garrettson 27 years officiating NBA, NBA Chief of Officiating Staff 1981-98 Those players join Zlemo Beaty (Veterans Committee), Yao Ming (International Committee), Cumberland Posey (Early African American Pioneers Committee), and Jerry Reinsdorf (Contributor Committee) who were direct select inductees and did not have to go through the voting process.
